Why wouldn't we be whinging????? The club has won SFA for 22 yrs and counting and we've still got the same loudmouthed f**kwit in charge. And the way things are going it will be another 22 yrs.

Yesterday we lose one of our most promising juniors, and what does emperor f**kwit do??? come out and whinge about the cap. How about going out and finding some sponsor's.

We have lost so far this year

T Smith
Riddell
Robinson
Wagon
J Mannah
T Williams

And may lose a couple more stars from the 20's side. And have signed no one. We are poorly run and poorly coached. But why would we whinge??????????????????????????????????????????????

There would be no need to do this if the majority of the eels fan base actually realized that we have done well with the team and coach that we have had so far up until this year, which isn't even over yet.

Letting in 25 points a game, won four games, lost five and are being propped up by two byes. I don't consider that to be doing well so far. We have won some games playing ugly and we have lost a lot more games playing ugly as well. I think there is a great deal of improvement left within the team but they have to start proving that and quickly because the season will slip away a lot quicker than you think.

People have used the fact we are only four points behind the Roosters as a pointer to where we sit however when you factor in that the top five have all only had one bye that means we are effectively six points off first place to start with. With a negative for and against we need to turn things around amazingly quickly on the coming weeks before the team is left behind.

Josh Cordoba and Ben Smith are the only two players we are missing from an apparent full strength team so we can't use injuries as an excuse.

I understand the old half full, half empty thing but at the end of the day we pay the money to go through the gate to watch them and whether we whinge or not is up to the individual.

Okay, I mean't with the team we are currently fielding and the coach we are currently under. Those are two of the two whinging factors that I've seen come out the most. Sure, a whine here and there is okay, but not to the level which everyone is at the moment. We have done well under Michael Hagan so far and you can't guage this season yet until after it is completed. Which means that the way things are at the moment may last until mid-2009 and rightfully so. You can't pretend to gaze into a crystal ball and predict the future. If things don't turn around then you can disown your NRL team, but at the moment you can't do no such thing; they deserve plenty of more time to prove themselves, considering they made the semi's last year. Although they choked, it isn't a bad result AGAINST THE PREMIERS.

I'd like to know what some of you are going to do if :

A) We make the Grand Final this year with the team the way it is now, and the coach being the same, the ceo being the same etc all.

B) We make the semi finals with the same team but lose, will you be calling for Hagan's head still?

C) We make the changes and play worse than we originally did (It is possible)

You do make a good point. I think we have the players to be a top 4 side this year without a mass influx of untried younger players but what we haven't shown is a knowledge of a good attacking gameplan. They look lost out there and the one out stuff is simply not going to challenge the top sides. The key this year is to make the opposition make decisions. There has been a shift away from territory based attack and grinding in favour of variation and depth in attack.

I think throwing a bunch of young players in there and hoping they turn our season around will only end in disaster, it's just the scale that is the question.

Yes, I'm whinging about you whinging. There is only irony in that to the beholder, because if you weren't whinging to begin with, the retorts wouldn't have to be akin to those.

How else am I meant to get my viewpoint across to the whiners?

I cater for my audience.

Actually I believe the concern is that we're going crap this year and will have a far weaker squad in 2009 ...

It's more of a problem with team selctions then anything else. How the hell can Wagon still be in first grade at the expense of someone like Williams ?
How can Reddy be in the centres ?
Why is Keating in NYC ?
Why is Riddell the starting hooker ?

Whilst I agree that some wrong selections are being made, I don't think that alone constitutes wanting to take peoples heads. It's been 12 rounds... as a poster before also said, we do have a team that should be doing well... Just give them a little bit of slack for a bit longer, it's too early. I suggest waiting it out a little.

but people need to realise that not every club can be at the top all the time.

Sorry but I can't buy that. That's just an excuse for mediocrity. If you manage the team well there's no reason why you can't always be a competitive force.

Sure we have made a fair share of bad decisions and are playing fairly poorly, but people need to realise that not every club can be at the top all the time. Why is everyone getting so upset over one player get signed to Manly, when we have done miraculously well to keep both Hayne and Inu. We have our fair share of marquee players, they just aren't performing/are injured at the moment. You think those two plus players like Nathan Hindmarsh, Eric Grothe, Brett Finch (Still a decent player, even though he is slowly finding form) are easily retained when other clubs would gladly have their signatures?

Look at the positives.

SERIOUSLY.

WE HAVE BOTH HAYNE AND INU. We have probably the most talented backline in the NRL. When they start performing, you will forget that any of this has even happened.

Get over this loss, honestly. You can't have everything.
When do you think they will start performing?

Exactly 22yrs and f**k all in the trophy cabinet, as I have stated before people are satisfied with mediocrity and others like myself would actually like to win a comp in my life time.

Well I'd have to agree that in general many parra fans are whingers, and particularly negative bunch. I am sure parra have been booed at halftime by their own fans more regularly than any other team in the comp over the last 10 years.
I don't know if its because any parra fan around the age of 30 - 40 probably grew up with the notion that parra win all the time after the good form of the late 70s and title winning teams of the 80s.

You need a lot of luck and a bit of good management to win a comp. I love the insinuation that clubs let good players leave, thats a load of rubbish. Good players and promising up and coming leave for all sorts of reasons and its rarely because clubs want to get rid of them.

Its funny that people are blowing up about Williams and saying the club is mismanaged. This is the same club that has managed to resign Hayne and Inu who along with probably Inglis and Folau are the most talented young backs in the game. What you didn't think there would be some ramifications to that. Add Ben Smith to that group.

We have lost a young player with great potential, but too a club who was willing to pay him the wage of an established first grader. Clubs take punts on young players from time to time, sometimes they get it right, sometimes not. But people whinge and whine about parra's losses, well here are the players playing first grade this weekend who once played for us.

Jamie Lyon, David Williams, Chris Armit, Ben Farrar, John Williams
Zeb Taia, Mitchell Sargent, Ian Henderson, Dean Widders, David Kidwell
Luke O'Dwyer, Brett Delaney, Aaron Cannings, Michael Hodgson
Brett Hodgson, Ashley Graham, PJ Marsh, Andrew Ryan.

Maybe 4 guys on that list I'd love to have back, well 3 because of Jamie's poor behaviour (Hodgson, Marsh and Ryan), perhaps Kidwell, the rest take them or leave them.

I just feel many parra fans seem to lose all concept of reality when they discuss issues. You cannot keep every player, its impossible. It is a massive call to sign a junior star to first grade wages, because a majority of them don't aim up. I mean the armit and witt brothers should have taught us something, but people are slow learners. There was furore that chris armit, steve and michael witt should have game time earlier when they were juniors. There was furore when Chris left and even worse took his younger brother Nathan. The Witt brothers people went on and on about them being saviours and they must play first grade. Bagged Brian Smith endlessly.
So who was wrong the club for not paying over the odds or the fans.

Our fans want us to keep every one of our players (bar the current scapegoats) oh and sign every decent free agent, sorry but that is how it comes across. And then they get angry when another fan with some understanding of reality points out this is not possible.

Its funny in this whole outpouring of emotion over tony williams, that it is the resigning of eels home grown talent that stops us from signing williams and others. The likes of Cayless, Hindy, Hayne, Inu, B.Smith, Burt, Grothe, Mateo have been retained recently or over the years and this means others can't be. Why are they retained well because they have proven ability.

I don't like Fitzgerald, but apparently the club is being run terribly coaches everyone.
We sit 11th , 2 points outside the 8 and 4 off the lead, despite not playing that well. We finished top 4 last year and in reality were the 2nd best team.

The simple fact also is juniors occasionaly step up and even less often become stars. Paying huge money for a guy who has never played first grade is crazy, but great if it comes good. I cringe everytime people carry on about Kris Keating, the guys has shown a couple of good things in top grade and a bit of poor stuff, quite similar to lower grades. He may come good, but people saying its crazy that he's not in top grade is ridiculous, he has shown no form to warrant that. He has some zip, so does Jamie Soward and soward was a better junior that KK.

Reality check please people, I don't accuse anyone of not having heart or being a passionless fan, because we all care about the club. But please think carefully before you run your mouth, who would you prefer Hayne and Inu or williams, oh sorry thats right you want them all. My 2 year old daughter wants the whole bag of chips and my 10 year old wants to watch TV all day neither is reality either.

After this comment, you lost me.

Maybe you should read this forum more often. Learn to ignore the crap, and take on board what some of the decents have to say.
I read the rest but found little of substance. Such a shame really in such a long post.

if our side was playing well, coached well, management addressing issues eg player recruiment and retention we wouldn't be having this whinge would we?

I'm sick of fence sitters, we need more people making noise, other wise management will believe they're doing well.

The funny thing out of all of this is that the vast vast majority of supporters can identify who good players are and who aren't, the coaches and management are oblivious.

Our club is a shambles a disgrace, we're second best organization have you noticed? while other teams recruit Bennetts etc we get the seconds like Hagan, when clubs like Canterbury sign Hannant, Newcastle buy Cross we get the likes of re-signing finch to 3 year deals or signing Todd Lowries, everything we do reeks of second best, hell even now it has been found that Hayne and Inu didn't stay for less. The management of this club are terrible negotiators, we have one of the worst sponserhip deals in the NRL, fitzy goes for the first offer to come his way, he lacks confidences, his lack of confidence has produced a generation of mediocrity, he re-signs average players to good contracts and above average players like Cayless to superstar contracts, people can deny this but it's fact, fitzy is a genuine looser with no confidence in the club.

Clubs like Canterbury, Roosters have no problems attracting marquee players, they're arrogant, that attitude has made the clubs winners, we're just a club that scraps off the left overs, and nothing will change untill we bring in a succesful business minded idenity who breeds arrogance, a wining culture and has better interpersonal relations, fitzy has been shown to serious lack in every facet of what constitutes a succesful manager/leader, how can a club seriously function if fundamental aspects like communicating with former greats/winners isn't occuring.

The people on this board who actually believe fitzy is doing a good job open your eyes and see the big picture, every single facet of this great club is failing, hell even his pride and joy leagues club is continuly running at a loss, he blames pokie machines for the clubs demise, hasn't he got anyother ideas to generate revenue? i thought succesful businessman are shrewd, strategic, communicators, leaders, can anybody possibly look me in the eye or whatever and tell me fitzy is any of these? can anybody honestly point something positive for this club which will ensure Parramattas longevity and sustainability? no!!!!!!! he cannot even organize players and himself to attend funnerals honouring the great Jck Gibson who transformed this club, he could not even organize players to attend to the need of its supporters at the f**king NRL fan day, this is laughble, a joke, an embarrasement.

I'm absolutely stunned that fitzy even has supporters.

Anyway
