Well if Manly offered him 150k as reported so be it. It's be silly to pay that much for a guy who hasn't even played first grade. Disappointed he's gone but sometimes you can't argue with numbers.

if our side was playing well, coached well, management addressing issues eg player recruiment and retention we wouldn't be having this whinge would we?

I'm sick of fence sitters, we need more people making noise, other wise management will believe they're doing well.

The funny thing out of all of this is that the vast vast majority of supporters can identify who good players are and who aren't, the coaches and management are oblivious.

Our club is a shambles a disgrace, we're second best organization have you noticed? while other teams recruit Bennetts etc we get the seconds like Hagan, when clubs like Canterbury sign Hannant, Newcastle buy Cross we get the likes of re-signing finch to 3 year deals or signing Todd Lowries, everything we do reeks of second best, hell even now it has been found that Hayne and Inu didn't stay for less. The management of this club are terrible negotiators, we have one of the worst sponserhip deals in the NRL, fitzy goes for the first offer to come his way, he lacks confidences, his lack of confidence has produced a generation of mediocrity, he re-signs average players to good contracts and above average players like Cayless to superstar contracts, people can deny this but it's fact, fitzy is a genuine looser with no confidence in the club.

Clubs like Canterbury, Roosters have no problems attracting marquee players, they're arrogant, that attitude has made the clubs winners, we're just a club that scraps off the left overs, and nothing will change untill we bring in a succesful business minded idenity who breeds arrogance, a wining culture and has better interpersonal relations, fitzy has been shown to serious lack in every facet of what constitutes a succesful manager/leader, how can a club seriously function if fundamental aspects like communicating with former greats/winners isn't occuring.

The people on this board who actually believe fitzy is doing a good job open your eyes and see the big picture, every single facet of this great club is failing, hell even his pride and joy leagues club is continuly running at a loss, he blames pokie machines for the clubs demise, hasn't he got anyother ideas to generate revenue? i thought succesful businessman are shrewd, strategic, communicators, leaders, can anybody possibly look me in the eye or whatever and tell me fitzy is any of these? can anybody honestly point something positive for this club which will ensure Parramattas longevity and sustainability? no!!!!!!! he cannot even organize players and himself to attend funnerals honouring the great Jck Gibson who transformed this club, he could not even organize players to attend to the need of its supporters at the f**king NRL fan day, this is laughble, a joke, an embarrasement.

I'm absolutely stunned that fitzy even has supporters.

Anyway
 Great post Ronny, someone has to come out and say what's needed to be said. Instead of accepting the same bullsh*t every year.

This proves you have no idea. Tony Williams will be worth twice that much in 2-3 years. It's not overs when the guy is a class above.
Oh I forgot, we only pay overs for average players or guys past their best...

The standard "everything will be alright" thread that pops up about this time every year. Funny thing is it hasn't been alright for a long time, so the logic is more than a little warped. I also love hearing things like "We lost to the eventual premiers" or "We lost to a very good team" or "<insert team here> was really desperate for a win this week". We should be a very good team, we should be desperate. Too many fans accept mediocrity (or at the very least want to give that impression on the forums), just like our club management.

So, are you saying that you're content with what's going on at the Eels?

Ron J and Bazal = Bill and Ben, the Flowerpot men. or Bib and Bub, maybe Abbott and Costello, perhaps Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, or even Laurel and Hardy.

Don't take life so seriously boys. You're not going to get out of it alive. It is a game of sport..not the Cold War.

Pete, please don't tell me you're trotting out the line "It's only a game"

I'm not a violent person, but there have been times after a big loss where I've been on the edge and if anybody had said that to me I would have decked them.

They could have said to me "Your Mum is a s**t" and I wouldn't have reacted, but please never EVER pull out the "It's only a game" line.

Yup, top idea. I agree 100%, we should all just sit back and chill out while the club is mismanaged and poorly coached back to our 90s also ran status...

And all the bitching and moaning on here is going to change that?

The funny thing out of all of this is that the vast vast majority of supporters can identify who good players are and who aren't, the coaches and management are oblivious

You see its this sort of thing I find amusing, because quite simply fans of the eels have a track record of being massively wrong. These are the same fans that championed the Witt brothers. If you could name the guys who have left from our lower grades (ala tony williams) and made a big splash at another club I will happily agree with your above statement. There is only one that fringe first grader who left and went on that I can think of and thats Jason Cayless who left because he had two international front rowers in front of him. But as you said the fans know best.

These are the same fans who thought that weller Hauraki and Junior paulo were going to be great for us, because gee they have been good in lower grades. One of our great problems at the moment is our bench is perhaps the weakest in the comp and where do they come from, our lower grades and the fans pinpointed them as future stars.

The reason I made a point of KK is quite simply to listen to certain fans you would believe that everything he does is gold and everything certain other players do is dust. KK has done some good things, but for a guy we want to use in the halves he lacks direction. Thats why I compared him to Soward. That includes the u/20 games I have seen, he is more an individual runner and support runner than a playmaker. To me he looks like a hooker, the place where nippy halves who lack the ability to direct teams go, like PJ. So I don't think he has played out of position. But I will be happy to prove him wrong. And the comments made about Soward getting a go at the roosters and KK not getting a go here. Soward had spent almost a year longer in lower grades than KK before making his debut for the roosters and only played 22 games over 2 seasons.

Now back to RON, your statements about dogs getting hannant and newcastle cross and us only re-signing finch. No the correct statement would add that we resigned Hayne and Inu the hottest young outside backs in the game. But we are best not to let reality in on a good rant.

While I don't think Fitzy is perfect (I think he is a clown actually), but in terms of recruitment and retention what club is perfect. I mean Brisbane just lost hannant and lost tate last year. and they lost petero. Dogs have lost half and origin team in recent years and sonny bill is unhappy. Storm have lost kidwell, cross, crocker. Last year Matt King, prior to that stephen bell and orford. Which at the time people felt was the end of them because nobody rated cronk. Tigers didn't resign lafranchi. Roosters didn't keep hodges.

Its the way the world works, that where I get annoyed with all this carry on because it forgets to include some reality in the picture. Its not about sitting on the fence, its about not getting carried away when something that is not worth getting carried away about. If we had of lost Hindy or Hayne or Inu that would have been worthy of some of the outlandish statements we have heard on this site. I'd also add do we have no knowledge of recent eels history, our position at halfway compared to the end of seasons. I could rewind the to sometime last season and read much of the same stuff.

Same people will be saying how wonderful we are if we come good later in the year. For some fans of our club it takes a player to sneeze on the field for them to jump up and down. I prefer to support the players and the club, unless something really bad happens. I bet most of the people who are currently ranting are the ones who helped run Brian Smith out of town.

Now here is challenge for you Ron and the others on your merry bandwagon. How would you fix it???

Smoke dope....Don't think so!....

And Hevy..do you think you are the only one who gets those feelings? Do you think you invented them?
I remember getting into punch ups at Leichardt and Lidcombe Oval, and being the biggest disher out of abuse on the hill at Cumberland to opponents on the paddock - and fans off it. It is not something I am proud of..but it is part of growing up.
I have great memories of those days..and I wouldn't change one minute of it. It is part of the experience of life.
I was of the era that had officials putting the barb wire around Cumberland Oval.
But mate, you get over it..and it REALLY is ONLY a GAME.

Apparently mediocrity is top 4 nearly every season for the last 10. I'd hate to be a souths fan. The club has placed itself in an ultra competitive position for the last decade with a couple of dips, no we haven't won a title and that is very disappointing, but to say we have been mediocre is ridiculous.

What do you want? People to sit back and pretend we're going great?

Far from it, people have every right to be annoyed the way the club appears to be headed however the only way to get the feelings across is in person at the AGM, etc not as some anonymous person on a internet forum.
