I don't reckon he'll be right to play Thursday night.

Might come off the bench.

The NRL could give a f**k, the game is already sold out.

I hope he plays in the ANZAC game.

Get him on the corner down Oxford St, he might make the Roosters some of the money back they have wasted on him, he is used to whoring himself so I am sure he won't mind.

The article and SBW have done their jobs.

We're talking about him and footy.

6000 a game seems like a conservative estimate to me.

The roosters averaged 12,000 at our games last year. We have 3 x likely 40,000 games this season (Souffs, Dogs, ANZAC day). This means that we'd have to average around 10,500 to each of our other 9 home games to bring about an increase of 6000 to our average attendances. Much more likely to be an 8000 or even 9000 increase in average attendances IMO.

But lets stick with the 6000 increase. At $35 per GA ticket that would net us over $2.5 million just in extra ticket sales for the year. No idea what our deal is like with the SFS so can't say what percentage of that we get, but whatever way you slice it there will be a massive financial windfall for the club in 2013 far surpassing whatever salary we are paying SBW.

The article didn't limit that extra 6000 a week to just Roosters home games

Bullshit.

The round one game would have got a decent crowd anyway.

And all that crap about food and beverage and corporates etc won't make money for clubs. It will make money for the SCG Trust.

And this bit

Is just made up. "Expected" by whom?

Says whom?

The club will make money off the sales of corporate boxes, it's why they've been advertising them on their website and social media.

Which is why its probably correct.

Roosters are much more likely to get an extra 8-10k per home game this year compared to last year, which would mean you'd only need an extra few thousand to show up to each of the rest. Our game against your mob will be huge obviously, as will the return game against Souffs, and the Warriors have moved their Rd2 game against us to Eden Park based on crowd expectations so really I don't see what the big deal is about a 6000 increase.

To put it another way, we averaged 14k at each of our 24 games last season. We'd need to average 20k this year to meet the target set.

At matches this season featuring Williams, crowds are expected to increase by an average of 6000 - representing a bonus of nearly $3 million for rival clubs.

This suggests the tool thinks every away game Roosters play will have an increase of 6000 on the gate compared to previous games between the teams. Mind you he did put the "featuring Williams" caveat in it so he probably expects to see little of him past Rd4 as well.

If Roosters avg 20K this year I will be fricking amazed and impressed and happily take back everything I have said about signing $BW's!

You're kidding yourself. Even if the Roosters average that many more per game it'll be more than likely due to the fact that Anzac day and round 1 clashes are home games as opposed to last year (which are huge games in their own rights), it won't be because of one bloke. The crowds outside of Sydney will barely change at all I reckon. Not sure there'll be 6000 people each week contemplating whether or not to go to the footy simply because Sonny Bill Williams will be playing

As I said, we will likely see an increase of 8-10k at home this year just based on 3 x almost guaranteed 40k+ attendances. You'd have to think the return games against the dogs and souffs would break the 40k mark as well (hell I'd expect over 50K if both teams are travelling well for the dogs game) so I would not be surprised if we were to average 20k home and away this year.

The total increase may end up "only" being 4000 or 5000, but either way there is going to be a massive increase no matter how much you may hate SBW

Obviously there are more factors at play than just one man's presence in the squad, but either way our crowd numbers are going to jump immensely this year compared to last.

As for crowds outside of sydney... well the Warriors moved their home game against us to Eden Park, so they are obviously expecting a hell of a lot more fans to turn up than normally do for our clashes.

It's not about how much I hate the merkin. Those crowds would have probably been close to 40k regardless, round 1 and Anzac day are huge games irrespective of whether or not the mercenary is playing. I dare say your crowd average would have been a few thousand higher last year aswell if both of those games were home games for you

The article claims crowds for all Roosters games (home and away) will be higher because of one man, all I'm saying is, that's rubbish. Your crowd average will be higher because you've got two huge games you didn't have last year
