Has said he is leaving in 2015. The scumbag has never truly loved rugby league. Simply using the next few months to tick some more boxes on his resume. He'll try to win the world cup and go back to back then the prick will f**k off for the main event post-2014.

Think I can live with that, especially if he delivers us another comp.

He should leave now as 2013 showed that the game has clearly passed him by.

Not many people saw it, but you were one of the few who did.

He just wasn't good enough this year, he's lucky he had Mitchell Pearce and SKD carrying him to a premiership

So wait a minute, if you're in some lowly job and get promoted to management, you should reject it, because it makes you a bad person, to accept more money and leave your peers behind.

Everyone's a f**king mercenary BM, you idiot, grow the f**k up! Some of them are just too dumb to make the most of their short careers.

Meh... Good on him... And good on the roosters for getting him for another season.

The last week has been a pretty rough week PR wise... But at least now he's got a plan for his future so we won't have this conjecture...

No boxing for at least 3 years is good for the employers...

He's taking a bit of a risk not going back to NZ rugby straight away... The All Blacks are destroying all and looked very settled.

Why do people keep using this stupid analogy?

Of course if you hate your job and your pay, you're going to go to a better one with higher pay. But this is sport, it's a bit different. And I don't see how rugby league is in anyway a 'lowly job'.
If you love your job, you'll stay with it, despite being on a bit less money, as many rugby league players do every year. Not everyone chases the money like a mercenary dumbass

Tell us more about how he was leaving at the end of 2013....

League gets him in the prime of his career, by 2015 he is turning 30 and on the downhill slide.

Hmmm... I don't think so...

He was injury plagued in the NRL from 18-22.

Played RU relatively injury free between the ages if 23-27.

Touch wood will have a good 2 years back in the NRL between 28-29.

I think you could easily say he's spent the majority if his peak in RU....

And even then...

He has PLENTY left after 30.... Richie McCaw will 34 and Dan Carter will be 33 at the next World Cup...

No one would claim those guys would be in their prime at those ages however.

Obviously it's easier to play in Union at an older age. Who knows will be play League again after the Olympics.

And BRL???

Hilarious how everyone here suddenly whooping with joy about SBW staying in League whereas yesterday everyone was bagging him as an entitled ego-maniac who would be no loss to the game. Pathetic.

The reality is that money talks - and at the end of the day NZ rugby just doesn't have the money to compete with Aussie League - especially when Channel 9 and NRL supremos openly made it their priority to keep SBW in the game for the sake of viewership, gate-takings, and general publicity. You can be sure that plenty of sweeteners were on the table. The NZRU would have had to come up with some serious coin to lure him back - which they clearly failed to do.

Playing rugby on cold wet evenings in Hamilton probably looked a lot less appealing when he can earn a lot more on this side of the Tasman playing a code he grew up with.

I thought some of these numbers were down this year. Alarmingly so, especially the TV ratings??? I suppose the William Williams admirers could always argue that with out him in the game these TV numbers would be even worse??????

Typo... f**king iPhone keypad.

As for the easier jibe... What a load of horse shit...

Richie McCaw takes just as much... Probably more punishment in RU than anyone in the NRL.

That's legal or illegal...

Case in point...

His name is Sonny Bill Williams... I think hes a Rugby player...

I think he's on sabbatical at the moment playing some weird offshoot version of rugby...

I think it's like sevens rugby with more people on the field and less people caring about it...

I hope that helps..
