I thought the Morris try might have been awarded but I didn't think he had scored it. I was surprised at daleys comments in the presser. I thought the refs went fine outside of the high tackle. I couldn't believe the bunker overturned the scrum feed when oneill knocked it on but there was a knock on by Jennings missed that would have given Qld a 20 metre restart instead they were only on the 20 on the 5th tackle and another knock on called on Qld that seemed to have come off Jennings head. There was also one occasion when Reynolds knocked the ball out of thaidays hand that was called knock on but could have gone the other way. Also we were offside a bit but didn't get picked up for it. One 20 metre restart we tackled them at 21 out I don't think our line speed was that quick but that's origin. I just hope Daley wasn't upset about walkers dropped ball because walker was a f*ckhead and basically cost us our last chance at snagging it which I think was a fair chance of happening

The one that came of Jennings head I think qld would have rathered that call that was given because Inglis took a player out and it should have been a penalty and we could have had a chance to level the scores. So the refs got it completely wrong.

The refs were appalling in general imo. Same standard that we're used to week to week.

Positives I thought that Moylan Jennings and Josh Jackson were great. Jimmy tried too. The rest offered little.

The game was boring, the concept is boring... channel 9 keep waffling on every year, about 6 weeks before game 1 is even due to start, that "Origin is Coming! Origin is Coming!" and that it's "The Pinnacle of rugby league"... BLAH BLAH BLAH... It is so overhyped now it's ridiculous.

We've got a situation where Queensland basically pick the same side for the bulk of the last decade and win every series... the only one they lost was when Hayne went nuts for NSW and Cronk was injured for Games 1 & 2 of the series... if not for that, it's likely QLD would be shooting for 11 straight series wins this year... Meanwhile NSW, after years of getting beaten, are like a rookie mechanic trying to fix a Boeing 747 jumbo - "OK, that didn't work, let's try this? Oh, still not working, how about this? Maybe it just needs some new bearings? No, still not working?? Umm, I know, I'll ask my mate Dylan Walker to see if he can fix it!" FFS

Meantime, in club land, this whole origin circus means that some clubs have to play without their best players, often against inferior opposition and more or less forfeit 2 points - Exhibit A, Dragons V Cowboys last Saturday night. And the Dragons I believe will be playing the Storm later in the origin period when they will be without Smith and Cronk... despite their ineptness, the Dragons will probably jag a win there too... So why do the Dragons get to benefit so much during Origin but most other teams don't? It completely skews the competition and is fundamentally unfair - there is no other way to describe it.

And lastly, a little off topic, someone needs to tell Tim Gilbert (well, channel 9 as a whole I suppose) to shut the F&*K up stop pissing in our pockets every morning telling us how good Origin is and how good it's going to be and how its the biggest and best game on the planet... such a douche that guy

Agree - Its hard to watch any NRL during origin rounds. Even if your side wins if its against a weakend team it takes the highlight off it.

Origin is losing its hype every year. More and more people care less. It used to be such an even for friends having friends over for bbq's etc.... Now its just a game.
Unless friends have just stopped inviting me? I never thought of that. Perhaps they still are having origin BBQ's :(

So, high scores = exciting? doesn't anyone find big defensive games exciting anymore?

I thought the game was good, although, what was up with Josh Morris? he had a shocker. He looked fat too..

Honestly I think some of you are crying sour grapes. If we win last night we would be loving origin today. Anyway each to their own if you don't like origin then don't watch it. The less people that watch it then the more chance it will become irelevant. I shouldn't complain though I feel the same about the rep round but I still watch it. Although I enjoyed city vs country this year for the first time in a long time

I'm with you ash I found the match enthralling but I must admit I get as much out of a good defensive display as a good attacking one

Not me... I couldn't give a tinker's cuss about Origin these days.... I watch footy because I follow the Eels and that's the team I want to see win a premiership. Origin is a distraction and worse, impedes some teams chances of winning the premiership they train and bust their guts for 10 months of the year for...

Ironically, now that the Eels have been more or less rubbed out of the premiership race for 2016, I should probably be keen to focus on somehting else like maybe seeing NSW win a series for once... but I ain't...

So you didn't watch the match last night?

As for impeding teams chances of winning premiership I don't buy that. It hasn't stopped Brisbane or Cowboys last year. I'd rather a team full of origin players then a team without

I watched the game on replay. Sadly all the "Parra Stuff" has reduced my enthusiasm for the game this year.
I quite enjoyed the match. Gallen his usual hog self. Im usually as critical of Bird but I thought he tried his guts out.
Maloney, Jennings, Mansour, Moylan were great.
Farrah, Reynolds, Ferguson were rubbish.
Morris was ok but should be replaced by BJ or Roberts.
The forwards were tough but lacked skill. Maybe its time for Cartwright.
All up I enjoyed the game except for Gallen.

So you didn't watch the match last night?

Yeah I watched it... but I don't have the level of excitement or feel invested in it the way I used to... probably just getting older, grumpier...

I actually found myself hoping Thaiday would be first try scorer so that the bloke on Matty Johns show the other night would win a million bucks!

So you watched it and made a long post ranting about it. I think you might care about origin more than you realise. We are all getting older and grumpier take into account having to put up with being eels fans and then add the fact a couple of selection changes made to suit a more attacking game plan which would have almost definitely seen a nsw Wales win last night and it's understandable why anyone would be grumpy

Moylan - I hope that isn't his standard of play. Got hyped up as a playmaker and just seemed to want to play make. Hayne would have backed himself rather than almost give Gagai an intercept, & Mansour would have just been tackled into touch anyway. And three times letting ball bounce between him and Ferguson
Mansour - ok got manhandled when he had to take hitups in field (wingers both sides did) but went good when he was hitting it up at edge. But then didn't read play for Gagai's try.
Jenko - similar to Mansour, both made couple of smart runs right after each other. Lack of comms with Mansour?
Morris - wow.... except for what should have been a try... wow.... think he's played his last origin.
Ferguson - wasn't bad. I was amazed he ran 100m though.
Maloney - our best I thought. Still missed 4 tackles, but setup our try & good trysaving cover tackle.
Reynolds - .... it was his first game but f**k we need a half to overrule our "great" forward pack.
Woods - ok at start but played minimally... we'll get to why in a second...
Farah - how does he continue to convince people he's an elite level hooker? His one good play was getting luck that Gagai bobbled it when he put through that nothing grubber with his outside backs not knowing what was going on.
Gallen - just retire now. Despite being out there the entire game he ran for less metres than minutes played, Woods & Klemmer both played better than him and combined played less minutes. And he constantly runs mistimed hitups. If your outside backs are having to do your first 3 hitups and they each make halfbreaks and get us 50m down field, don't f**king come in get tackled by 2 players and still have a slow f**king play the ball.
Cordner - good. Scored try, linked well on edge, didn't stifle attack & nothing too bad in defence.
Jackson - needs to take more runs, but other than that he at least does his job unlike most of the forward pack.
Tamou - better than Gallen, but his second stint is what f**ked us, having Gallen, Bird and him all on the field and all wanting to play halfback.
Bird - better and worse than he usually is. He actually mixed his running and his useless playmaking at the right times so wasn't at his completely stifling 'best' but where was the fire he's know for?
Walker - do you mean Aaron Raper? Why pick him?
Klemmer - good in defence when he was on and had 2 really good runs, which leads me to...
Fifita - had the best run of the game but then went to shit. Why do all our forwards only have a very small amount of power runs each game? f**king Thaiday & Scott have as many each as our entire pack combined. Fifita then went the Danny Wicks route and just wanted to complain and death stare the tackler after each 'run' and just do slow play the balls

I thought gallen did come off at one stage not that I disagree with your assessment of him and yes I thought Moylan would have scored himself. I do think man sour would have scored if the pass went to him but it was never going to get to him Moylan basically threw it into gagai's hand

I object to the disruption Origin has on the season and the never-ending BS that some of media outlets dish up in the lead up and aftermath... But I understand it's a massive cash cow for the NRL and channel 9 in its current format and nothing will change in the short term.

On my comment about "impeding" some teams premiership chances, I should have said 'potentially'. I'm referring to the threat of injury. It might not matter if the Cows lost Justin O'Neill to a season ending ACL tear, they've got plenty of artillery to cover for that... But if Adam Reynolds ruptures his ACL, Souths almost certainly kiss their season goodbye... And I know injuries can happen any time, in any game, or even at training, but if my star halfback does the season ending injury in a NSW or QLD jersey then it makes it a lot harder to swallow. Ask the 16 NRL coaches and they'll all sing the same tune... It's a part of rep footy life I suppose and there's no avoiding that

I wouldn't like it either if a key player from the eels got injured in origin but I also like the fact that playing football like origin can make them a better player.
