That's not even true either. The first published rules of soccer may have been drawn as late as 1848 but that doesn't mean the game started then. There would have been plenty of rules drawn up previously just never published or shared across the country. The first Aussie rules games were just a version of one or two of the English public schools games from the time anyway, probably most closely remebling Sheffield Rules.

all true, soccer can be traced back to ancient times, but officially, its birth date is 1848.

oops sorry guys, soccer is in fact 11 yrs older than Aussie rules, sue me.

the rules for soccer were formed in 1848 whilst the rules for Aussie rules were formed in 1859, i did say i wasnt 100% sure though.

Why are fumbleballers so brainwashed? Their admin releases dates and changes 'facts' to suit whatever their agenda is that day and the fans swallow it completely. Do some research about the 'founding' of your game instead of just reading the headlines on AFL press releases ffs.

let me make it easy for you, list the countrys where soccer ISNT the no1 sport.

AFL isn't the national sport anywhere in the world... Maybe you should read that slowly before bagging soccer, which is the national sport for most countries on the planet, you muppet.

so because of rule changes it wasnt born in 1859?, maybe aussie rules is only 2 yrs old, after all, there was a rule change last year, im not saying the game back then resembles todays game, thats just how the game was born, it evolved like anything else does.

Did you even bother to read the article Green Machine posted? The rules were totally different, you weren't even playing on an oval for starters.

RL has evolved since since the split from the RFU in the 1800's but even with the introduction of major new rules like the six tackle rules and the play the ball it's still a very similar game. Compare that to AFL and it is nothing alike, certainly nothing that today's fans would recognise.

Saying that soccer is not the national sport in two countries like it means anything significant. Maybe you should rethink the points that you're trying to make in the future.

are you all there mate, seriously?, do you quote people without reading what your quoting?

Kind of ironic for you to say that as it seems that you aren't even reading links that people post for you, or even bothering to read the full posts that people make in reply to you.
