i hate soccer, IMO its the most boring ball sport in the world, how its gained such a following is beyond me, interesting that the 2 big new countrys (America/Australia) dont follow it.

id prefer my team to win on the weekend TBH.

The two big new countrys.... I always knew AFL fans were smart!

Seriously intentcity, I feel a bit bad for everyone giving you sh*t all the time, but you can't say you don't deserve it when all you do is come on LEAGUEunlimited and talk up AFL all day. Especially when AFL have just taken two of league's best players. What do you expect to gain here?

6-7 years ago I would of said premiership ,I used to be one of those blokes who said soccer players are pussies and they kinda are but I used to think soccer/football was boring then I started paying attention and it finally clicked and now I really love the game, dont get me wrong NRL is still my number one sport but I would have to choose world cup for Aussies.

Iconic Australian brands...why am I not surprised you'd want to belittle them?

South Korea to win any day.

Although I love both sports with a passion, the Premiership is nowhere close to being as competitive or prestigious as the World Cup.

The idiots saying Australia wouldn't go mental

The idiots saying 'it's just sockah'

Some of the replies in this thread have been absolute gold...if any of you can't appreciate what an unbelievable acheivement winning the World Cup would be then you're either geniused or just a moron. Regardless, it's not even close. I love Souths with all my heart, I've never seen us win a finals match let alone a grand final and the decision is still f**king easy.

Fortunes change for RL teams from year to year. Realistically, a team has a 1 in 16 shot EVERY YEAR. For the world cup, first we have to qualify, then get through 32 teams (with a limited squad because unlike footy we can't buy better players) and we only have one shot every four years.

I guess the people who voted Grand final are the same numbskull's that don't want the AFL and NRL giving up the use of the stadiums if we have a successful World Cup bid. Jesus.

Some of us are passionate and actually give a sh*t about our team, while the World Cup, while the country will go mad, I won't. I will go mad if the tigers win.

Personal preference.

It would be the greatest moment in Australian sporting history if the eels were to win the 2010 premiership.

Already seen the roosters win a premiership, so whereas only a handful on countries have ever won the world cup.

Seeing australia take it out would be a once in a lifetime thing, and the rejoicing by te nation during the run to the final and then the party after the win would be incredible.

I picked the Dragons to win the premiership just because Australia aint likely to win a world cup EVER!

Dont get me wrong ill be supporting the Socceroos all the way. Ill also be supporting Portugal as i have a Portuguese background and in all truthfulness, they have a much better chance of making an impact and being there abouts come semi finals of the world cup.

Look as much as I love football, a Saints premiership outranks every other sporting outcome. And even when it comes to football, United mean more to me than the national team. Which is to say club loyalties command my ultimate passion in every sport ahead of state and/or national loyalties, not that I don't care about the latter. I still get plenty fired up watching any sporting contest where I give a damn who wins. For example, I broke a remote after the diving incident in '06, and you don't want to be within 10km of me watching an Origin match.

So you would rather Man United win - who win every second year pretty much, have the highest paid team (or close to), only really have 2 other teams that are consistent competition (Chelsea, Arsenal) - then see the Socceroos win the World Cup, something that is 1000-1 long shot and will probably never ever happen?

Strange.

why would you want soccer to become massive? We have enough challenges with AFL and RU, we don't need soccer getting its act together and having a massive financial war chest!
