Why are people saying Australia will never win the World Cup? It's very probable that we will.....One day.

Because of the FFA's national curriculum, the National Youth League and the prospective A-League club academies, in 50 years, the average Australian Footballer will be far superior to todays players. So who knows, Australia may someday win the World Cup..I just hope it's in my lifetime.

I'm happy with Australia winning the World Anything. Even in soccer, a sport I'm largely indifferent to. It doesn't make sense to rate a premiership over it, but I probably still would. I've never been a huge soccer fan, but league is my first love, plus I'd love the bragging rights over my mates who support other teams. I don't know, I admit it doesn't make much sense but I'd probably prefer the premiership. Definitely pretty stoked with either though.

Socceroos to win the World Cup.

I love the Raiders just as much as I love the Socceroos, but winning the World Cup would be the greatest sporting achievement in Australian history and would send the country berserk.

It's about which is more important to the person voting. Obviously the Dragons winning the comp won't be considered a huge sporting achievement Australia-wide or internationally. But to me it'd mean far more than a win in a sport I couldn't give a flying figtree about. Same with the Olympics. I don't follow fencing, synchronised swimming et al, and would much rather see the Dragons towel the Eels or Rorters than a win in clay-pigeon shooting.

And as for the recurring "soccer's the biggest sport in the world, therefore you must like it or you're a bogan" argument - at one time, "Achy Breaky Heart" was the biggest song in the world. Does that mean we all have to like Billy-Ray or be crowned insular idiots & bogans?

Nothing beats a poll based purely on opinion, where one mob try to claim superiority over another, simply because soccer means a lot to a stack of people overseas.

With the soccer world cup looming, I thought it would be interesting to find out whats more important...Australia to win the wold Cup or your team to win the comp.

I'd prefer the Bulldogs to win the premiership, but I think this year they have as much chance as the Socceroos winning the World Cup!
