How was the crowd for Pennywise? Planning to get to Stage 3 during the annex act prior and hopefully creep closer as the night goes on.

Five finger death punch - pretty good their set was way too short though. They did have a bitch about being on at 12 and I don't blame them.

Asking Alexandria - they were pretty tight

Trivium - were good but for some reason it appeared they played a shortened set, it was not an hour as scheduled which meant their set list was a bit out of whack.

Korn - brilliant, played mostly older stuff.

Devildriver - amazing, they had some massive circle pits going, definitely the biggest of the day

I'll niño - good high energy set, small crowd of hardcore fans, still fun though.

Other bands I saw whilst waiting were:

Mushroomhead- caught me by surprise, great entertaining set and high energy, they must have like 4 vocalists.

Gojira - they were killing it

Can anyone shed more light on what happened with thy art is murder?

Apparently in protest to the rules brought in in regards to moshing and shit, they told everyone to rush the stage and get up there with them

Zoli made Pennywise interesting again, then Jim came back........

My thoughts exactly. Ever since I had heard Ignite, I have always said that Zoli Teglas is the best singer in all of Punk Rock music and then Zoli was in my fave band and then they brought out All or Nothing which is the best PW record since Full Circle IMO. It was their best commercially since Land of the Free as well and then all of a sudden Jim is back and its the same old PW and they don't play anything off All or Nothing. Massive shame, I love Jim, has been one of my biggest idols for a looooong time but with Zoli it felt like a new band and then it got taken away.

Fairly decent TBH. Jim posted a video of the crowd during Bro Hymn on his facebook and it looks pretty packed from that view.

Zoli penny wise was tame bullshit pennywise IMO. It was ok but not anything I'd associate wit pennywise.

Scored 4 tickets to soundwave today for 100 a pop. So pumped! Terror, Deez Nuts, Ghost Inside, Mastodon and alkaline are all must sees for me. Been a few years since I've done a festival so can't wait!

Plus Korn, been smashing self titled and life is peachey all day. So stoked to hear its an older set they have been playing. I'll lose it if they play good god.

Highlights of the day for me were The Porkers, Five Finger death punch and Pennywise.

Jimmy Eat World and Green Day finishing on the main stage was bullshit. I stayed for Green Day cause my Brother and mates told me that they were Awesome live. I was so dissapointed. Pissed off I missed Avenged sevenfold

spewing I was too late and missed the porkers

Living End were awesome, Chris Cheney is amazing, love rock a billy although prefer it a tad heavier but they are just an amazing live band and worth the entry price on their own, did a cover of Jailbreak and Also played waltzing matilda in a solo instrumental

Trivium were about the best metal band I saw all day as well as Black Dahlia Murder

Khorn and Zombie were also great, enjoyed some of Greenday's set but way too long

alot of Aussie covers, Richie Sambora did Beds are Burning, Greenday did Who can it be now as well as LE's version of Jailbreak, they referred to it as Aussie Folklore

Just before the last song, CJ the singer told the crowd 'there's more of you then them (pointing to the security) so i want you to get up here with me and destroy this place!!!" Or words to that effect.

They only played half of Reign Of Darkness before the masses on stage and their clumsy-ness sounded like they tripped over the pedal boards and leads and cut the guitars out.

It was stupid to egg the crowd on and I was also disappointed that one of my fave songs was cut short, I don't blame AJ for ranting over it, I would have done the same if i was the promoter. Enough shit goes wrong during the day without muppets inciting people to do that shit. Pretty disappointed at them honestly, they are better than this shit.

Gojira and black Dahlia were best on ground for mine. Gojira sound so f**king good live, their drummer is a freak.

Anyone see the five finger death punch singer jump over to the annex stage while dahlia were doing soundcheck (you could barely hear them) and he goes up to one of the dahlia guitarists and puts his hand over the strings to stop him from doing his soundcheck, as much to say ' we're playing so stop' the dahlia lad couldn't believe it and one of the roadies looked like he was going to jump over to the main stage and belt the clown.

It was incredibly arrogant and we all let them know what we thought, i reckon they are a pretty ordinary band and looks like they are pretty ordinary people as well (the singer at least)

I wanted to see filter as well but after 15 mins of standing around waiting for them to come on i got the shits and left. They were blaming their rental gear on facebook this morning but its not good enough.

I thought it was funny when the 5fdp singer went to the other stage, but I thought it was all in fun, I didn't see the reaction from the other band though.

Legs feel like they're about to shatter but sticking around from Pennywise through to Avenged Sevenfold made this probably my favourite Soundwave to date.

Five Finger should have no complaints. Look at Amon Amarth and August Burns Red.. both played very early and seemed not to care. Both bigger bands than FFDP too.

I was at Thy Art when it happened. There was dumb shit said but nothing you won't hear at every deathcore show. They didn't ask fans to belt the security they just said "Make em work for their money" stupid but not malicious. They just wanted a stage event.

I missed this! What a f**khead. They should appreciate the fact they got to play next to Black Dahlia Murder.

OK my day

Turned up eaaaaaarly for Amon Amarth. They were great but mid morning doesn't suit them haha. They took it well and didn't seem to care that they had a shitty slot. Pumped out all the songs I wanted to hear.

Went to see the end of Hacktivist and it was exactly what I thought it would be.

August Burns Red are one of my favourite bands and they have so much energy but the sound seemed to be muddy and ruined it for me.

Accidentally caught some of Dangerkids who I had never heard of and it was f**kign woeful. Not only was the music terrible but they were out of time and just shiiiit.

Back to Black Dahlia Murder who are brutal and nailed it as always.

Watched Graveyard who are brilliant at what they do. Put me in a good place. Small crowd though. Stoner/bluesey stuff and if you dig that shit see them

Alkaline Trio started woefully. The sound was so f**ked up to start. By the end when they finished with Radio it was much better. Have to think.. 5 years ago they are near headline status and here they are at 1pm or something.

Caught Coliseum who I hadn't heard before. Really enjoyed it. Kinda stripped back 3 piece rock with noise and stoner influences. Hard to describe but I really enjoyed it.

Gwar - Hilarious.. Just the best show of the day. When they blood starts, half the crowd loves it and they other half shit themselves and bolt. Worth watching even if you dn't get down with their tunes.

Went to Filter for that 1 song haha then to Thy Art (see above).

Watched some of Clutch but they don't have the keys anymore so that really lost a lot of it for me. Bailed and went over to catch the end of Trivium. Not my thing but their fans like it. Seem like a better version of Avenged 7x.

Main reason I was going for for Baroness, Gojira & Down. Baroness had shit sound to start and TBH I was a little underwhelmed. Down were f**king spot on. CD sounding shit... guess that is what happens when you have merkins that are in their 50's playing haha. Phil dribbled a bit too much though.

Gojira were f**king SICK. Probs my band of the day. So good. Left a little before they finished so I coudl catch Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats who were really good. Only discovered them for this tour and are defs a band I will be looking in to further. Psychodelic/stoner stuff. Really well done.

Caught ADTR and heard the 1 song I like in transit so that was cool.

Missed Trash Talk - Spewing
Missed Testament - Spewing
Missed Rocket From the Crypt - Spewing
Missed AIC - Spewing
Missed - Ghost Inside - Spewing
Missed Letlive - Spewing
Missed AX7 - Couldn't care less.

I really do think that Soundwave it a tad too big. I think they need to kill 20 bands and a stage or 2.

Didn't visit stage 1, 2 or 3 at all
