What do you guys think your team will look like in '09?

  1. Rhys Wesser
  2. Nathan Merrit
  3. Feliti Talanoa
  4. Jamie Simpsons
  5. Colin Above-Average
  6. Craig Wing
  7. Chris Sandow
  8. Manese Manoukafoa (sp?)
  9. Isaac Luke
  10. Roy Asotasi (c)
  11. David Kidwell
  12. David Fa'alogo
  13. John Sutton
  14. Shannon McPherson
  15. Scott Geddes
  16. Luke Stuart
  17. Eddy Pettybourne
Obviously you guys will know more about which particular players would be best fit for the club. I'm just going on what I'd pick as a Bulldogs fan.

Manoukafoa will be at the Cowboys next season. Even if he was here Geddes is a better option to start with than him. I think Champion will be in the centres instead of Simpson as it stands at the moment. Also Stuart will start instead of Kidwell.

1. Wesser
2. Merritt
3. Best
4. Champion
5. Talanoa
6. Wing
7. Sandow
8. Geddes (if he is still in the team)
9. Luke
10. Asotasi
11. Stuart
12. Fa'alogo
13. Sutton

14. Falloon
15. Kidwell
16. Greenfield
17. PROP

Stuart HAS to be in the starting 13. His workrate and endurance have been a shining light in 2008, along with the revelation of Sandow.

I think the Bunnies are short a prop for 2009, unless one of the Bears steps up.

If retained, Nathaniel Barnes might put some pressure on the likes of Talanoa and Champion, so they need to step up (Talanoa really needs to improve on his hands).

There is also a question over whether or not they will play with a second specialist hooker on the bench ... another forward (Pettybourne or McPherson) or even someone like Capewell might find themselves on the bench.

I honestly believe that this team will do well next year. A decent prop (bought or uncovered) is the only real missing ingredient, in my opinion.

Has George Ndaira been given another contract? I would've had him as interchange hooker if he did. Perhaps him and Luke can switch between each other every now and then. Even a backup half if Wing or Sandow get injured.

I think Barnes is gone, maybe Wara or Nicholls or Chris Mc Queen the signing from qld cup will fill that role.

Sigh, I'm very depressed with the state of things at the Eels. Ndaira would be the best new signing they've had in a couple of years without any exaggeration whatsoever. That's not to say that they even really need him.

What about this Ryan Verlinden character? Could come off the bench at prop. I hear good things about him (haven't seen him play though).

Add him in and my team would be pretty much the same as Ike's.

Verlinden is rumoured to be heading elsewhere and I dont think souths have signed him yet.

Considering Merritt's form over the last few months once he was put back to fullback, i'd leave him there and leave Wesser at Norths. Best should take Capewell's spot (still don't think he can cut it in 1st grade yet) and the pack picks itself.

And you heard it here first (well probably 101st :p) .... Sutton to make Origin debut in 2009 ;)

Your sig is a little out of date . 8 Weeks till kick-off ?, The World cup would be nearly 8 weeks away though, you could change it before no one else notices:D

My 2 cents at this time.

1. position vacant
2. Nathan Merritt
3. John Sutton
4. Colin Best
5. position vacant

6. Wingy
7. The Black Alfie

8. Luke Stuart (c)
9. Issac Luke
10. Roy Asotasi

11. Dave Fa'alogo
12. position vacant
13. position vacant

Bench: all positions vacant.

I appreciate that I may have ruffled a few nerves playing Best out of position, but a class player like him can comfortably handle Centre and our young blokes need some more prep time.

Maybe even shuffle Best to 5/8 and Wingy into the centres where he can do more with big guys running off him.

These modern day backs, great footballers, they can do it all.

In the old days under the 5m rule, the 5/8 had to be tremendously skilled, these days he has a bit more time to get the ball away, so he's more of a utility. Then he's enhanced with wingers, hookers just carting it up the middle.

I dont think we should have much of an off-season, I think we really need to think about getting bigger and faster.

That takes a lot of hard work and discipline. Lang was pretty good at off season conditioning at Penrith, so we'll see.

Maybe I spent a few too many hours in misery therapy.

You are right about Tulz, I thought long and hard about him. I even considered him in the second row.

But with a +2 RPI, I'm afraid I had to err on the side of caution and along with a few other favourites, stand him down.

Wesser rates as an ordinary player these days, average, neither bad nor good. His reunion with Lang might work miracles though

He played his best footy under him, he was at his peak, no question of that and that augars well for next year.

I almost had McQueen in.

A lot of people feel ill at the suggestion of Sutto in the backline, but not me and the other memebers of the co-alition of the willing. Hes a great player, he can handle it. Him and Best will slaughter opposing backs.

The notice board is up at Souths, position vacant RPI +4 and above players wanted urgently.

Do you want to play for the best club in the world?
