Souths Duty of Care

The NRL dont actually care about player welfare. They just care about making sure they can cover their arse if some pea heart tries to sue them down the track.

Reynolds got his bell rung, and wanted to come back on. Thats his decision as a growth f**king man. You dont get aneck tatt if you ain't a tough bastard... :sarcasm:

Players know they play a risky game, and they know the risks of playing on when they've had a head knock. Providing they are aware of all the consequences it shouldn't be on their club's or the NRL's shoulders to force them from the field

You have a doc making the final call because a concussed person isn't in a fit state of mind to make those sorts of calls. It's the same reason we've all tried to drag that pissed mate from taking on bouncers instead of leaving them to get the snot beat out of them. Sometimes you have to save people from themselves

Let's not forget Kyle Turner suffered 6 concussions in 12 months and was never stood down once

how many times was liam fulton concussed and allowed to come back earlier than he should have??? he may still be playing if he received better "duty of care", and lets not forget the "duty of care" simon dywer received, but i guess it's more fun bashing the big bad evil rabbitohs!

as soon as they are concussed they aren't and cannot be fully aware. whole argument falls on that point.

the clubs and the NRL really don't want a player to take them on, because they would get massacred.

Vic is correct here. the clubs (not just souffs) are paying lip service to the rule. they are hoping nothing happens because if it does, they are gone. even Brisbane would struggle to survive a ruling against them. most of the others, wouldn't.

So the fact that the club you used to support made mistakes (even though Fulton was abiding by the rules at the time which have changed since) it makes it OK for the club you support now to make the same mistakes?

By 2020 you'll be here defending Easts using equally poorly made straw men.

what do the previous rules have to do with it? if it's dangerous to bring them back too early then it shouldn't happen, even if the rule allows it. if you keep getting concussed and have severe swelling of the brain, then you don't even have to get knocked on the head to get knocked out again. as if the doctors didn't know, and if they didn't then they weren't doing a very good job, and the club can be partly responsible. anyway my point is no club is perfect when it comes to these things, but we all know what the f**kwit OP's agenda is

Vic just having a go at Souths again whilst mentioning Reynolds. What a surprise.

I agree with the general point but like many have said we're not the only ones. Every club does it.

OP missed the concussions Walker and Reynolds suffered in the WCC.

Why would we have sent them both back out that night when leading 30-0 (and with a 24hr flight the next day) if they weren't fully recovered?

We have the best medical team in the comp, that's why.

in defence of souffs and their medical team, even when the rabbitohs players AREN'T concussed, they still couldn't count the number of fingers you're holding up..

and believe they're in redfern when they're actually in homebush...

so must make running any kind of concussion test difficult..

It goes along the same lines of why Lodge is being fined and stood down again from tonights game for being pissed and refusing to leave an establishment on january 11.
No body was paid off like what souths did,and therefore Lodge misses the nines and tonights game and Sutton keeps playing.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Luke Burgess' lawyer did that, not Souths. And he has since been moved on from the club

Especially when it comes to violent drunken nights out in clubs.

Having a good medical team doesn't grant the ability to make concussions disappear. Once you have one, all you can do is manage it till you recover.

And yet having absolutely no medical knowledge or access to the players is enough for most in here to determine if a concussion exists or their fitness to return to the field.
