Didn't Liam Fulton retire because he had 3 concussions in 3 weeks?
I'm most probably definitely wrong but isn't this his first concussion this year. I think he may of only beem concussed once last year, he has ongoing neck and shoulder problems since the start of last year but i think he has only actually been concussed twice in that time. I know he had a string of concessions in 2014 and it was probably wrong for the club not to sit him out but from memory that was the first year of the new concussion guidelines and souths weren't the only club to flout the rules.
Idiots are confusing brain, neck and shoulder injuries. He has not had that many brain injuries. Neck injuries are different. Players don't need to be protected from themselves in the sense that they have full capacity and ability to consent, their intelligence and thinking ability is not reduced. Brain injuries are different.
IMO if anyone is wobbly on their feet they should have to go off for the rest of the game no questions asked, no silly "test".
But that has to come from the NRL.
From America's leading concussion expert in direct response to Kyle Turner.
"I am sickened that Kyle Turner would be cleared and asked to play again," he said.
"In America, he would have been shut down for an extended period of time after the third concussion, and retirement would have been discussed after a fourth in a year."
And yet he got what, 5 or 6 in 2014, and didn't sit out a single game.
And souths fans on here defend it.
Definitely don't defend that. I personally Probably didn't realise at the time just how wreckless it was for the club to allow him to play on in 2014, but do feel uncomfortable that my club allowed that now.
Still don't know a lot about concussions, but he had his last concussion in 2014 before the finals from memory, his next was in his comeback game from his neck injury in late July/august and his next was in April this year. So the time between concussions is 8 months and the time between the one before that was roughly 11-12 months. That's probably still bad and still cause for concern, but it's not the regular weekly concussions that some people try make out that turner suffers.
The club doesn't have the power to force him to stop playing, bar cutting him. It's in the NRL's hands to decide what rule is enforced on repeat concussions
