Spending Money on Everything except the most Important Thing

Well done on the board for pursuing and landing another big name player in Marshall. We all need to be convinced that he still has it; but well done.

We recruited pretty well last year with a host of new and mostly talented players coming on board. We are a prop or two short of a decent squad.

So while we have gone out to spend money in the areas where we have needed them (except for front row) we are running the team with a very low quality coaching staff. Surely the club needs to spend money in the most crucial area in the club today, and that is the coaching staff.

McGregor and Young are terrible but poor old Steve Price is just so out of his depth it is ridiculous, and he is the manager the club has seen fit to lead this new exciting batch of signings. Does that make sense to anyone?

Seeing Price at yesterdays press conference with his ridiculous gelled hair...he looked like someone who had sneaked into the press conference. The poor kid has rehearsed a number of go to lines he brings out in an attempt to hide his incompetency such as "we have great systems and structures at the Dragons" (really Steve, these are not evident on the field); " we are playing Dragons footy" (really Steve, the style of play you have introduced is not the style I have been watching for the last 40 years).

Memo to the Board and CEO....you have put together a promising roster. You need to get the right pilot to drive the car now. Go spend money there!

I also have to back up Rob's post.

The fascinating thing for me is how benji is to be managed.
At his best Marshall was brilliant at some at lib stuff, running , stepping, etc.
If his role is now " catch and pass", then we cant blame Benji.

Sure he needs to fit into our culture, and the senior boys will make sure of that.
I just hope we dont clip his wings to the extent his biggest attributes are history.

Interesting to see if Williams has a scorcher tomorrow, what happens.

You all just need to relax. If you think Price and his staff will be sacked this year I think you will all be sadly disappointed and the continual bagging of our coaching will all be for naught. Go back to repeating the same rhetoric if his 2nd year option gets picked up. Until then, you may as well just go review one of the 6782 threads that repeat the exact same comments as in here.

Fair enough BRV. I doubt he will be sacked either.

Whilst we are missing 1-2 players up front, we now have a team where 6-7 players are either rep or marquee level.

Morris
Dugan
Nighty
Widdop
Merrin
Marshall
Creagh
Beale

add to that
JDB / Frizell / etc.

If this group doesnt make the 8 (as a min), he has failed.

Yeah with that group, we should be top 8. We lack the grunt in the pigs to really do any better than that.

You can blame the coaching staff for alot of things but the players have to take some responsibility to.

On field performances in terms of discpline and respect for the ball comes down to them and thats just as big apart of the problem that anything else.

Price can be blamed for picking serial offenders like Hunt but a guy like him with the experience he has should know better mind you he's not the only one you can look right across the squad and nearly every player does some really stupid things at times.

If Price showed a little more discipline himself and drop out of form players regardless of who they are he may gain a little more respect.

Yep a couple of big boppers with the infamous Mongrel would have us a top force now.

I was expecting a bit more from Stockwell personally. He had a pretty good season last year for a young fella, and I thought another preseason he may have put a bit more muscle on which would make it easier for him. Sadly, not the case.

Groat I thought as well may have been a good pick up. He has the size, but he does not use it and the potential energy he could use if he actually ran hard.

And the other big fella we brought Aioli, he looks ok, but he is no Sam Moa.

I posted some time ago Brissy that Stockwell would be a rep player.
Like you, thus far this year, he has let me down. Wonder if he's injured?
He has it all, tall, mobile, off loads and plays plenty of minutes.

Who knows, if doesn't Doust have another surprise pre June 30?

That's the icing on the cake.

With the players you mentioned in your previous post and another 2 big boys to add to what we have already, the mighty dragons would be a force to reckon with again. it's looking good.

Agree Coast, But Shouldn't these players have been cut loose. Prior was let go..IMHO Hunt should not have been resigned. Same for Green and a few others...When will we stop buying players who don't cut it in first grade???
How long are we going to put up with inept performances when Price said at the beginning of this year he had the team he wanted. Blind Freddy could see we were short in the mongrel forward Dept.
Price has had 3 years and yet the team plays like they did in Pre Bennett Days. Did Price learn anything from Bennett apart from trying to parrot his quotes and demeanor????

Prior was let go and they kept Harrison, honestly what does this guy actually offer nothing and Hunt he has never been the same since his injury I won't question his courage or effort but he isn't a starting prop.

Merrin dropped kg's to play lock yet he isn't one his play the balls are just to slow and he still wants to off load silly passes when its better to just hang onto the ball.

I like most of the forward back but they are to much alike alot of hard toliers who work hard but just don't have that real spark I'll never question their toughness more the desire and sometimes attittude.

Piss off Craig Young for a guy of his ilk for some odd reason the forwards have gone slightly backwards in skill level and attittude.
