Did u watch the game today?
Three of the bulldogs best were Jackson, tolman and graham, 98, 103 and 108kgs... Hardly monsters.
What makes them effective is not their size but the speed and intensity they play at, combined with smart coaching... Ie when they run, they run in numbers always making the defence hesitate. They also run good angles.
When they tackle they wrap up the ball, not jumper grab like our forwards do.
I don't care how big you are if you get the ball at half pace, from a slow play the ball and then run one out, you aren't going to trouble any defence .. We could have 4 forwards over 110kg but it wouldn't matter at all if they're allowed to run one out with no intensity and jumper grab like Price seems to think is acceptable over the last 3 seasons...
A smartly coached team would have been instructed to move the big bulldogs forwards around, get them rolling backwards with quick play the balls and smart dummy half running.. Tire them out... Change the angles around we run at, get their forwards moving laterally and back pedalling... Where was that mr price???
You must have really enjoyed that win Mr blue. Glad your bulldogs are going so well. Those 3 were all very good and are all quality players. It would be great to have them at the saints. They were also well backed up by the likes of Browne, kasiano, Eastwood, Williams and finucane. All of them not small by there own right. Just a quick question, in your opinion, had we had your forwards and you ours, do you think the result would have been the same?
It is true that our forwards are not hitting the ball at pace. But even when they do, they are not the type to run at full pace into the opposition. Merrin is a prime example. Is that a courage issue? Knowing you are running full pace into blokes bigger than you. Courage is not something that you can teach or coach in this matter.
But in our previous debate, we were not conversing over coaching methods or structure, but how geniused it is to blame something on a person who has absolutely no control over the outcome. If you would note however, in my previous posts, I was not so much defending our fearless leader, but bagging you for blaming price for apparently not telling the performance director to assist jack in putting on some muscle for the season. Something he may have or may not have done! And then blamed price for jacks lack of size. I guess you blame price for every single dropped ball as well, a fundamental skill of the game? And Mr blue, that is just stupid.
I have changed my view on price over the past 6 weeks. As you said previously, ultimately the performance of the team comes down to the coach. The team is not performing to the standard required, so IMO the 2nd year option should not be taken up. If you lot would prefer Mary as coach for the rest of the year then so be it. He will not have any better success until we fix the problem of the complete lack of size and grunt in the front. I have no doubt jack will continue to develop and grow.
