Bennett didn't get marquees, but he got in effort players. The Bromwich brothers, Nichols, Gilbert, etc. They're all discipline and effort and will do the 1% stuff, particularly when they don't have the ball.
Agree and imo one of the reasons why Sheens is struggling is because he has been away from the NRL for to long and hasn’t seen that the game has changed.

Bennett knows.

I did think that our recruitment for this season was good, but why are they not gelling, is it because we have the wrong mix of team or the wrong tactics?

While this season is a write off. We clearly have the resemblance of a good footy side with a strong forward pack and some promising players in our backline in Tupou, Bula and Naden.

We. Just. Need. An. Organising. Halfback.

We don't even need to sign a 5/8. Brooks could play as a good running 5/8 if he sticks around on a fraction of his contract or we could persist with developing Laurie as a 5/8.

But until we get an organising halfback we are gonna continue winning every stat except for points

I have nothing against Brooks, by all accounts he is a good bloke, but I think it would be better if he just moved on.

We still need a change in the 6 and 7. Mind you, Wakeham has been pretty damn solid lately, I'd keep him on some sort of cheap deal.
To be fair, so has Brooks, but I worry about if he can maintain it consistently, he will be signing, so we just gotta hope he can?

Wakehams doing as good as can be expected for a backup half, we're getting more value out of him then we did Billy Walters or Jock Madden. Having an 80+% goal kicker for the first time in forever is also a major plus.

If Ap holds his spot for Origin 2 nd 3 then we'll miss him for the Storm and Sharks games. Will miss him but also good to see how Jake Simpkin goes at 9.

Big difference between Brooks and Wakeham. Wakeham is CERTAINLY proving value for money. Brooks, as decent as he is lately, is not.

What a difference a few weeks make. If Brooks takes a reduced contract then I reckon sign them both up, but we still go after an organizing, goalkicking halfback. Move Brooks to 6 with Wakeham ready as a backup half should we need him.

Only problem is there isn't really anyone available that fits that criteria apart from Dodd (St. Helens). He was warned against coming to Tigers but after that thrashing he might just ignore them.

I don’t think Wakeham is a weak link in the side, agree Brooks has got his game going OK now, will be interesting how they develop as a unit, we’ve got some young halves being developed, so I don’t see it as a priority atm.

The pleasing thing is, imo, there is no real weakness in any positions atm, even with Joffa gone, we can cover him, but we still have 2 positions to fill our top 30, just hope we don’t waste them.

Good players are always welcomed.

I think Wakehams just warming up. That no look pass back to Bulla that lead to Batemans try was exquisite. . I doubt Brooks could pull that off. (That try was on tic toc yesterday labelled “poetry”)
With Benjis help, I think we’ve just scratched the surface and his combo with Bulla will only flourish. And Wakeham looks like he’s enjoying himself out there. Combined with his goal kicking, I think he’ll be around for a bit.
