Isn't rugby league the national sport of PNG? If it isn't a sport then what is the national sport of PNG.....it couldn't be rugby league.....

I guess their answer would be;

The national sport of PNG is Rugby but it is Governed by an illigitimate rival governing body the RLIF and not the official governing body of Rugby which is 'World Rugby'.

I don't agree with this but it seems to be the line they are taking.

It will be interesting to see what Collier has to say in the coming days
Didn't he just quit? I agree with you though, wasn't it his job to get this done? Lobby, negotiate, provide evidence that we are an individual sport, do whatever needs to be done to show that Union is behind this. Maybe he has done all of these things but if so, he failed.

He his employed until May, he announced his resignation but it doesn't take effect for some time

Bunch of Greeks and Italians who were booted out by the RLIF so made a shitty breakaway for a few Union clubs to run around in.

http://www.worldrugbyleague.org/

Complete joke of an organisation but they claim to have submitted to SportAccord which could very well be f**king us over

There is something very fishy about this mob. No one in their right mind would try to do what they claim to be doing. Claiming league descends from the Greeks? Applying for Sports Accord? Just doesn't add up....

I just wonder....

Petition signed...for what it is worth.

Where are the players wearing their hats with "We want recognition" at every RLWC press conference, like they did with the RLPA hats during state of origin.

Oh that's right......nothing in it for them this time. Don't worry about for the good of the game.

Probably unaware. Its the administrators that are the real issue. This should be a highlighted issue and brought to public attention. The players would be onside if aware of this garbage!

It does us no favours with players nation hopping.
Also as well having only 5 or 6 born Samoans in their world cup squad does us no favours, and that apply's to Scotland, Ireland Tonga etc as well. A rule should be that at least 3/4 of your squad must be born in the country they are playing for in a world cup
All countries must at the very least a 6 team comp.

Yes you guessed it, the one "signaturee" with an anti rugby league stance on that petition ,sprouting his usual BS about 1 hour ago,was a Todd C from NSW.Another alias for our resident troll David Moore/The Changing Man.
How insecure and desperate. From LU/the Roar/Fairfax/Telegraph,now to this petition. Achieving I might add zilch, but looking pathetic.

All good except if you noticed their is a massive anchor on the game of rugby league called the 'Sports Accord' body. This organization's lack of willingness to recognise rugby league as a sport is and has severely hampered the ability for rugby to develope/ start competitions in many countries around the world. Basically rugby league as a code cannot pick players out of its arse as this Sports Accord is providing the excuse for non friendly lobbyist in influential areas of government to not fund/assist rugby league as it not regarded as a sport! Incredible! Human rights stuff surely is involved in this shameful scenario!

So how long would RL need to wait? The separation occurred 122 years ago. 200 years? 300? What a complete joke they are - no wonder they ditched the name Sports Accord.

Sure does. This stops our access to government funding in each individual country. Also stops us pushing nines forward as a sport ultimately with the goal of the Olympics, now union does not want us enjoying that privilege. How another sport can continue to have soooo much power over another beggars belief.

Ive said it before, ill say it again...

As long as the sport is called "Rugby League", it wont be too hard to get away with claiming that it is a Subsidiary version of Rugby. (we are literally called "Rugby Competition"!!!)

I know more would been to be done beyond a name-change, but in a fight you dont put your ballsack on the table and hand them a f*cking hammer.

At least try to make it a BIT hard for them to f*ck us over....

So is "foot golf" another sport that escaped the loophole!?

As far as i know, Golfs existence isnt threatened by foot golf and they dont have a hundred year history of suppressing their rival (commonly through the use of the similarities in name)

But i dont know much about the politics of golf....

Now the truth comes! So it's another code namely, union ,doing this dirty work! It's absolutely wrong. Forget the 'name' bullshit. This is about a superior code of football (rugby league) being repressed! It's wrong and should be exposed , shamed and challenged ! None of this running away logic! Rugby league is well and trully a great code of rugby football just as other football codes exist and are recognised. This is not only a sporting issue! It's a human rights issue relating to the freedom of association and probably other things no doubt!?

Youre a wierdo...

What do you mean "the truth comes"? Do you think i am a conspirator who has just let slip the evil truth?

I think we are all fairly convinced it is Union putting some dirty shit here (as they have at every opportunity for the past century). The question is: What does RL do about it?

One of many necessary steps is to find a distinguishable name for the code. It is easy to whinge about how unfair it all is, but thats like walking into a wall and telling the bricks they are rude for not moving. Deal with the reality that RU people are bastards and acknowledge that we are handing them a stick to beat us with.

Until we ditch "Rugby Competition" as a brand name, dont act surprised when people confise us for a Rugby competition....
