Awesome post. Love the insight.

I've read a bit about Kingston Town and seen some of his wins on youtube. Amazing horse and as you said he was raced to win. No molly coddling or cherry picked fields. What a horse.

And massive respect to the owners and trainer too who respected the spirit of racing and competing - which now seems to be gone to a degree.
My own man(god rest his soul) was there for the kings first start, a Wednesday meeting at Canterbury. He worked the barriers there and Rosehill and there was a tip around for a cracking looking black colt by Bletchingly, he and his best mate had a little crack on the black horse and it did absolutely nothing. His comments when it was plodding home a long last to his mate was "How would you like to be feeding that Donkey". Yes he said that about the King LMFAO. But he always maintained after he went past the post what what a magnificent looking horse. Still he copped it for years afterwards, the King never lost another in Sydney after he lost his nuts. And Dad lost his play lunch money.

As an anaolgy, boxing has gone the same way btw.

Back in the day all the greats fought each other again and again. In their primes.

But now no merkins want to fight each other for fear of losing. Or that's how the promoters - the money men - play it out anyway.

Basically money has tainted two of the great sports.

Phar Lap was Henry Armstrong. Tulloch is Sugar Ray. Kingston Town is Muhammad Ali. And Winx is Floyd Mayweather; where the only thing that matters is the streak.
And Wazn is Anthony Mundine.

Does anyone else find it a bit weird the lack of retirement talk about Winx this weekend?

I thought it would have been massive news/goss heading into this race...there’s been a little talk but not a great deal.. I reckon if she wins then they will call it a day.

If she loses I reckon they will go round for one more prep.. the pressure will be off and her value won’t decrease at all so why not?

Nah they will give her another prep, with another 3 or 4 million on offer why wouldn't you??? It's free money it's not like she's going to be tested. It's too late for her to go to stud this season and lets face it the owners really need the money.

There is talk Winx might go to the MacKinnon Stakes on the last day of the carnival and that will be her farewell

I wonder if any of the soap dodgers will turn up for that if she runs

Who knows but it sort of makes sense, unless they want to aim at something in the Autumn (doubt it). Think the MacKinnon makes sense, and it being at the home of racing at Flemington helps.

Just crying in my fruit loops watching a replay of the manikato (fk you Maloney). Sunlight was pretty unlucky in that too.

I watched it again this morning, as always is the case in this race there were a few hard luck stories.. Kementairi was the run of the race...but I actually think Houtzen should have won, had the momentum went for a split then got squeezed out. Sunlight was gone when it missed the start.

I'll go winx - d'argento - humidor - savvy coup.

The 2 euro plodders won't know what hit them at the school.

I'm pretty pumped. Say what you want about the quality of opposition but this is the champions race and a horse winning it 4 times is just crazy.

Most of the local trainers are running scared like they did with BC because they're worried about the psychological damage getting lapped by Winx will do.

I expect the O'Brien thing to run it hard so the pressure should be on a long way out.

The 32 second last 600m should set the track on fire.

To what ridiculous extent does that over-acting quince Bwoooossss McAvanus froth himself up over Winx today?

Odds on to squirt a few tears for sure.

You’d think the big, gay goose was a major shareholder the way he carries on.
He looked like he was pulling his pud during her last race.
