Who needs the seemingly potentially reliable Mahoney when you have the injury prone Kaysa the Kamikaze Kid to re-sign.

Still need a back up, Pritchard on the cheap is a good back up, if he stayed injured free he wouId be a great back up.

The NSW Cup is stronger than the QLD Cup these days because there are more NRL clubs affiliated with NSW Cup clubs and therefore more NRL players playing in the NSW Cup at any one time. But as you say, the QLD Cup contracted players would be at least as good as those contracted to the likes of Wenty.

It's interesting though that we (or Wenty) are poaching him from Queensland. Maybe there's just more carpentry work in Sydney and he wanted to keep playing footy on the side.
He's probably got a side gig working on the stadium. The front office are smart when it comes to saving money.

Who do qld have as dummy half options?

McCullough, Friend, Lichaa (?), Granville. I'm sure I'm missing someone obvious.

Think lichaa is NSW, Segeyaro won’t get picked. I reckon Granville is a bit overrated and on the decline. Friend seems to have peaked and not really considered (but wouId most likely be 2nd or 3rd picked - depends if Hunt is used as a hooker) And it’s McCullough to lose, he is solid but nothing great.

Can’t think of anyone else.

It seems the QLD hooker spot is wide open for a rookie to grab it in the next few years.

Mahoney seems to be the only QLD junior hooker there is, so really just needs to be consistent and build on this year to probably be considered

There's also Harry Grant at the Storm but he is behind Brandon Smith in their pecking order. I don't expect Grant to play much first grade next year whereas Mahoney could play every game.

Brailey does a great job for The Sharks. Specialised and good coaching cant be undersold. He has Flanagan, Ennis and Kimmorley working with him. What have Kaysa and Reed got? Bugger all. Hopefully the review addresses specific coaching. I reckon lots of Eels players are being stifled by a lack of expertise in the coaching ranks.

Ok, Pick a back up hooker that is available that wouId sign for close to the minimum?
Anyone who doesn’t get injured every couple of games would be a start.

He’s been around what since 2013 and got a long term injury every season. I admire how much he puts his body on the
Line for the club and his team but it causes him to break often. It’s just a shame he wasn’t given a body like his brother Franks he would of been the best prop in the game.

Mahoney is already a better hooker than Pritchard. It would be madness not to re-sign him into the top 30, regardless of whether we sign Luke or not. The pecking order should be:
1. Luke
2. Mahoney (playing 14. or back up if Luke signs)

3. Pritchard (as a backup in case of injuries)

There is a lot of hot air about Mahoney not being signed. Has anyone said he hasn’t? Meanwhile Lane, Terepo and Gower have all said they are signed yet the club hasn’t announced it.
