Nah I am sure the new leadership will have their pathways explained to them so they know the plan to first grade..
What if the plan to first grade has them waiting a year or two for a better player to retire? How do we stop other clubs from signing them before they’re ready? There was already not enough first graders to fill 16 rosters, then the Dolphins arrived. By 2029 there will be another club trying to fill a squad. There’s won’t be any talented teenagers willing to bide their time in reserve grade.

Yeah true we should just stop developing players and recruit for every position.. It seems to work for the Tigers.

Why think that what the team that has made the last 5 grand finals is doing is a good plan...

Yeah it worked great for the Tigers developing Tedesco, Fifita, Korobeite, Addo-Carr and Papenhuyzen and then watching them win premierships. Go boys!

Given the Tigers lack of success from doing the same thing (focus on pathways) maybe the secret is keeping them rather than developing them. Why was Luai happy to sit in reserve grade until age 22 while Talagi couldn’t even wait until he was 20?

Did anyone know of Luia before he made it into first grade? He also stayed at the club because he knew they had a plan which worked out pretty well for himself didn't it.

Panthers kept Maloney until Luia was ready then didn't resign Maloney but won 4 premierships with their juniors they developed from bottom up.

You seem to be happy to die on the recruitment hill and ignore the fact the Panthers have won the competition the last 4 years and are the most successful club in the NRL era.

Every club knows every talented junior. They have entire staffs of pathways recruiters and coaches to track these kids. Every player with NRL potential is known from the age of 14, at the latest.

They recruited most of those kids from outside their local area (including Queensland and NZ) then managed to keep them despite starring in their age groups. When the Roosters tried to sign Cleary they brought his dad back to the club and gave him his job back.

When you figure out how they beat Uncle Nick you’ll know the secret of their success. Don’t forget this whole thing started with Gould and his very good mate James Packer. Don’t simplify it to tHeY fOcUsEd On JuNiOrS!!! Every club tries to do that and most of them end up chasing the money. It’s why they don’t sustain their spending.

They recruited plenty of players, including all the ones they ‘developed’. Most of the players they ‘developed’ came from country NSW. The two Panthers pathways players we recently signed (Hopgood and Iongi) are Queenslanders.

I and everyone besides you Jon know the secret to the Riffs success.

It didn't start with Gould it started with the staff that was employed by Brian Fletcher..

Btw you know Panthers don't actively recruit from NZ.. bet you didn't know that Jon

Packer’s loan might be starting to run out. Might explain why their junior reps have gone to shit and they’re back to recruiting top 30 players from other NRL clubs.

They have always recruited top 30 players to fill a hole.

Sorrenson has done well out of it.. that's the price of success your players get better and they move on when you can't pay them enough to stay..
