Geez Vettori bowled well the other day. Seriously unlucky to finish with figures off 0 for 22 (although these are very economical overs). He was right on top of Jayawardene in particular.

Sri Lanka win the toss and bat.

Latham in for McCullum. Southee in for Boult

Stating the obvious here. Guptill and (to a lesser extent) Taylor need a score here.

Why is McCullum out? Would've liked to see him get a decent score, he's been quiet the last few ODIs. Should be down to Guptill, Taylor and Latham to get us home today anyway.

McCullum is resting.

Hope SL give us a good chase. Want to see more of how these guys do under pressure. They've handled it well so far.

McCullum needed a rest after a busy day at the Karaka horse sales...

Seriously... I wouldn't imagine Richie McCaw being granted leave from the squad to go buy horses 2 weeks out from the World Cup.

Yeah pretty slack example. I can;t imagine Richie even considering that anyway from what I've heard of his work ethic.

SL on track for 300+ here... which isn't necessarily bad in the greater scheme, I'd like to see us chase down a big total.

Out of curiosity.... how much are you NZ fans taking out of this series? Obviously played in same/similar conditions as the WC, and Sri Lanka aren't a bad ODI side.

Do you think they're the best side to be playing on the eve of a big tournament?

I think they're probably a fair indicator as to how we'll go against anyone bar Aus or SA, so I reckon they're reasonable prep. The unknowns I think are whether we can step up against those two sides, and how we'll cope with coditions at the MCG should we make the final (given that all other games will be in NZ, unless we end up with the circumstance of an NZ-Aus semifinal after losing to Aus in the pools.)

The SL bowling has been a bit insipid though. A bit more of a workout for our batsmen could've been handy.

From the vibe on Radio Sport I think we're going a bit overboard about our success in this series.
Yes we've played well but its been pretty scratchy at times and they have a very ordinary attack.

I'm not overly excited about it... I think SL are a solid sorta outfit who keep you honest.

I think the best thing about this series is that all areas have been put under pressure at some point and have come out of it strongly.

Ronchi & Elliot for example... Ross Taylor in the last game... I think we need something from Guptill today though...

It will be good to see what Pakistan are like on Sunday and next week... They may be able to push us more than SL have with the ball..

We've played well but I still think we're quite some way from the best (South Africa).
They look lethal at the moment
