Stalled and stagnant Sydney clubs

the warriors, titans and cowboys have been pretty much a rabble their entire existence
based on what?

Titans have definitely had issues... Warriors and Cowboys have had major blue chip sponsors for many years - Vodafone and Toyota. Crowds are fine - can't judge the Warriors on the past 2 and a half years.

I was going to add Canberra too since nobody wants to play for them not even their English imports

That's my experience at Lang Park for Cowboys vs Broncos games that draw more than 40k. Just getting from the stadium to the bus terminal takes at least 30 or more minutes. Getting from the back of the queue to the bus can easily take 30 minutes. It's a bastard of a trip.

Nope.

Lived in both cities and Lang Park is a f**king dream compared to getting out of say Brookie or Shark Park. I'd say there's pretty much no stadium in Sydney as well located and easy to get in and out of as Lang Park.

Commbank stadium is probably the best and even then Roma Street Station (Which isn't the closest one to Lang Park obviously) is closer than Parramatta station.

CommBank needs a parking station. If it had that would be almost ideal

Lmao you can tell this guy has never seen peak hour traffic in a major city before. Try being on parramatta rd at 5 pm on a Friday trying to get to Accor or the sfs

or commuting to beookvale along Mosman and the spit or down king George’s rd to Cronulla

and then being stuck for 30 mins trying to leave the ground if you stay till the final siren
People drive around a major city like Sydney in rush hour? Don’t you have public transport? yeh I don’t get Sydney as I live in a modern city that you can actually get around and isnt stupid enough to build sports venues in places you can’t get in and out of easily!

Maybe RL fans are more likely to be introverted?

I prefer my own company. I hate loud noises. I don't like to be away from my pets and they hate it when I'm not home. I don't enjoy being squashed in with other people. Being crammed in on a bus isn't pleasant. Health issues make it a hassle to attend a game.
I find it highly unlikely that rugby league somehow attracts a totally different paychological profile group of people than other sports lol
yeh get it’s not for everyone but you would be in a very small minority.

On this topic what actually defines a stalled and stagnant club? Cronulla are arguably the most maligned club on this forum, yet we have the potential to be a power house. Own our own ground. Have huge backers via the development. A thriving growing innovative junior base with just under 400 teams and 5550 players, second behind Penrith. New sponsors. Forward thinking board. Maybe we are now the pace setters?
haha no your not. Crowds stagnant, finances improved but not yet turning a profit of note, still playing in an outdated stadium. Panthers and eels are good examples of clubs that have shaken off stagnancy.

TV ratings are huge but crowds are average. People have voted with their feet and decided TV is better.

Well since you don’t get Sydney it’s best you leave discussion about it to us. And if we would want to know about Perth you can fill us in on it

Crowds aren’t that average though. In terms of rugby codes the nrl has the highest crowd average

and on top of that massive tv ratings

if you look at the home of union, England, the tv ratings are on par with super league ie dreadful

This is why you are so widely disliked. You are a smart ass with a chip on your shoulder criticising this game and my club out of pure spite. You really are a piece of work. And a sad one.

It would be good if we could average 20k. If we get to that then we'll be doing alright. Broncos should be getting 40k.

In terms of globally Sydney sits 27th in cities for major sports avg crowd for nrl. And as the thread suggests is stagnant and hasn’t changed in nearly 15 years despite the growth of population in the area in that time. Union isn’t number one sport anywhere other than in a few small cities in nz so not much point comparing to them, and even then a lot of the French top clubs avg the same as sydneys avg.

haha, I ain’t losing sleep over merkins opinions of me.
What I said is not opinion. Sharks crowds haven’t changed in 20 yeras, the stadium will soon be one of the worse in the comp, despite selling off all your assets you’re barely breaking even. These are the facts I’m sorry to say. You might turn it around now you’re covering losses and have a better LC, a decent coach and some Storm players. Or you might not, the jury is still out.

There you go again. You sad mean spirited twerp. I’ve never seen such hate. The level of bitterness you exhibit is bordering on an illness.

Well here is a stat for you. Afl crowds haven’t grown in that 15 year period either. Oops! No wonder you are regarded as an afl flog.

Clubs will never turn a profit

They are by nature a break even type of organisation

You spend what you earn

If you earn a extra mil, you will find a way to spent that extra mil on something be it medical, gym or CoE

Pretty sure union is a religion in Wales, New Zealand and most of South Africa and has been for decades.
