Very disappointed:
- For the apparent rulers of the galaxy the first order are useless. When the Dreadknought showed up why would they target a largely unoccupied base instead of he one cruiser they were all evacuating to?
- Who's girlfriend did Domhall Gleeson bang? He's supposed to be the top man in the First Order, but is made to look an incompetent and a comedic foil the entire film.
- Kylo Ren destroys the bridge of Home One and apparently all the fighters, but has to pull back because the star destroyers can't offer any support? What's the threat? Harsh language?
- Why didn't they just contact the rest of the fleet when they were in pursuit? get another dreadknougt or another star destroyer infront of the restistance?
- Their shields suck. Falcon lands on their home planet undetected in TFA. Manage to land undetected on the Supreme Leaders flagship in TLJ due to a blinking light.

- Still no idea who the hell Snoke is and why he was so powerful. Ditto Rey.
- The whole casino subplot. Ugh.
Yeah, all that and more. How about when whatsherface left behind in the cruiser turned it towards Snoke's ship. "Oh don't worry about the hyperdrive being activated, nobody is onboard, they all evacuated!" Early on you had Poe just roll up on the dreadknought without them either noticing or caring.

The empire were lugging enough shit around for a full ground assault on some planet but had nothing faster than a star destroyer when it came to wiping out the last ship in the resistance.

Finn and others landing on Snoke's ship bothered me. Is there something I missed there? It was like they just mingled in with some tie fighters and just waltzed in without anyone giving a shit.

For mine it was very good.

Few surprises and took some turns I didnt expect.

Hated the bit with Leia after the spacefight. Really annoyed me actually.

Other than that and Hammills acting very enjoyable and looking forward to the next one.

Hahahaha, the comments from people here lying to themselves about enjoying this film.

There were only two things in this film that were actually good... Puppet yoda, and Benicio del Toro. The rest was utter garbage.

I for one was really critical of the force awakens and how it was just rehash of a new hope but the last Jedi was excellent I liked how it really explained the force the light and the dark and the in between...I’ll give a 8 out of ten for me I still have empire strikes back still and at the top of my list and the last Jedi a close second

Who is nitpicking over small shit?

Acting = awful. Dialogue = awful. Story = awful.

Those are some pretty big problems.

Stop lying to yourself, guy.

Watched this one today and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I mean some of it was awesome and exactly what I was waiting for, some I just didn't care about and there were lots of things that happened that I never would have speculated.

If I had to rate it now though I think it's a 8/10 for me. I think I like The Force Awakens better, but I really get the feeling I will enjoy this a lot more the next time I watch.

- Snoke - I'm so bummed that this guys was meant to be the big bad almighty guy and he was warming up so well in this film and for him to die just like that and with no real backstory is disappointing IMO.

- Leia - I loved the bit where she was just floating and you see her hand twitch like she's about to use the force - THIS COULD have been cool if she used the force and her last remaining energy to fire back and help out the resistance, but no, she flies back to the ship and then heals up? I think my scenario would have been a fitting way for her to finish up. Now she survives and I'm not sure what they do next.

- Rey & Luke on the island. I thought it was too much filler. Like he barely trained her and now she is meant to be the Jedi/hero for episode IX while she still feels undeveloped as a Jedi.

- Didn't care for the new characters much and I was just wanting the movie to focus on the main story of Rey, Kylo and Luke, so I feel a bit robbed of that.

- Luke was unreal in this movie and the duel with Kylo was awesome even though I wish it was a real fight to the death, I think I'll appreciate it more next time and I'm very happy with how Luke went out.

- Humour - Man there was lots of humour attempts and I'd say half worked and some even worked but felt out of place. I think the movie could have been better with a more serious tone and less humour attempts.

- Scene at the end with the little boy using the force to grab the mop? Rian setting up his trilogy?

I know the above is mostly negative, but I did enjoy the film even though I thought it was too long.

I think I'm mostly disappointed because I'm not even excited for episode IX now, like what is going to happen and what are the consequences? After episode VII I had so many questions I wanted answered and theories. Now after this one it's like ok, that was enjoyable but meh, no anticipation for what's next.

Maybe I'm too invested in the Luke character and now that chapter has closed in my books.

Would love to hear your responses to any of the above, see what your perspective is.

There was some quality in there, it was enjoyable enough, but i want to know what drugs the people rating it 9+/10 are on. It felt all over the place at times.

Some of leias story was really dumb and thats a concern given it didn't seem like there were any last minute edits.

Edit: Why are we talking in spoilers? Anyone who reads a thread about Star Wars while not wanting to be spoiled has negative IQ.

Luke chucking the lightsaber over his shoulder was just silly. He could have just handed it back and had the same effect instead it just came off slapstick silly

Well just like the dude in the video above mentioned, they've gone all MCU with the jokes. That's the Disney effect right there.

Some random thoughts..

The over-dramatisation with slow-mos etc in certain parts annoyed me. That's just modern action cinema though I suppose but I thought it was overdone with the bombing scene. It made a bit more sense later on when it turned out her sister would be a player in the story. A lot of Leia scenes annoyed me in particular Princess Mary Leia Poppins. I... still don't know how to feel about the whole Luke vs Kylo Ren face-off; I was having ep3 and ep4 flashbacks and in this case would have been happy to have another 'rehash'.

The whole Rey Luke arc was quite underwhelming although it certainly had some good bits. I don't think this is entirely the plot's fault. Luke out of the major 3 original characters to me is the hardest to identify with. He looks (purposely) like a dishevelled hobo and I found it hard to make a genuine connection between him and the major hero of the original trilogy. His aura is diminished and it's bit like why do I care about this old hobo. The closest I felt to a Luke Skywalker that meant anything to me was when he 'faced' Kylo Ren. Completely different situation to Han in TFA.

I found the 'this is how it happened' 'no this is how it happened' 'okay this is how it really happened' back and forth between Luke and Kylo Ren's re: their versions of events to be quite odd. I think they could have just given the real version without that, it didn't seem to add anything to the story. Rey could have been lured without it. Luke could have still been flawed without it.

Snoke and Rey's lack of backgrounds.
Snoke: I thought this was a major letdown that he just turned out to be a nobody or not worthy of a background. As an aside, I think Kylo Ren killing him was meant to make casual viewers second guess what would happen with Kylo, but if they remembered this was a trilogy, what the f**k would the 3rd movie be about if Kylo had really turned? Rey as Supreme Leader? General pussy as supreme leader? Snoke's death locked in the rest of the movie's main plot. Still, the scenes leading up to it did have me thinking one would turn so there's that.

Rey: On the flipside, I like her parents being nobodies if it's true. Its a twist I can get behind. I wasn't expecting it to go that way especially when she was drawn to the darkness when training with Luke; thought that it was a hint her lineage was from the dark side.

Should Fin have died? I think so. His near death scene was a little out there. I like his character but it would have been an opportunity for the bad guys to really take something from the audience. Maybe that's to come in episode 9?

Overall, I liked TFA better.

Thought I was watching GOTG at first. For that first joke to work they dumbed down Hux and he stayed that level through out the movie.

Luke didn't get all that much training from Yoda in the original trilogy either. Shit, every time he faced Vader he got beaten down.
