Paul I've seen Alan Tongue as having 235 tackles in some publications, and it always seems to happen that the tackles stat varies wildly from source to source... why is there always such a discrepancy with tackles made between sources?

It's possible they get changed later on, perhaps after watching video of the match. The stats I just posted are derived from tallies at the time.
