Did you see Thurston in the box with 3 mins to go? You could tell what was going through his mind, he was looking for a way Qld could get up and win! The man never gives up.

Look out if he's OK for game two.

I wouldn't mind Sterling pay checks, Fox Sports, Nine, NSW rugby league.
I've been surprised to a while how he can show up on both networks.

Lol yeah didn't look too bad there ! Looked like 6-8 weeks earlier

Wow, this is as dominant a performance as I have seen from NSW for a while

The Sterling effect imo, reckon he had a big say in the selections etc, quality team across the park, clear plans, only issue remains the #7.

Guys like Vaughn, Boyd, Tamou waiting in the wings

No Gallen and Farah was huge for NSW last night. They've always had their hands on the ball, Gallen getting it at 1st reciever in the attacking quarter slowing things down or Farah continually running from DH or making his grubbers through the line.

Last night Peats just fed the ball left and right. He knew is role. Maloney and Pearce loved him for it.

O'Neil, Gillet and Napa were crap for me.

O'Neil not containing Hayne, Hayne had a easy Origin return. O'Neil also took a look coming out of his engoal and dropped the ball which went to the hardest man to stop on the field when hes 5 metres out. All types of useless for O'Neil.

Gillet not as solid as some would think, I seen him slip off tackles and then Tedesco stopped him in his tracks and manhandled him sideways when Gillet was at full steam run away train mode looking like he was going to score a try. It went from try time to not even close my son, is how I would describe it.

Napa tried to put on the hits but maybe his enthusiasm put his defensive reads and timing out. He shot up by himself and ideally the whole ABC defenders rushing up as one wouldve helped Napas purpose but its Origin and its fatiguing and we saw that in Napa. Poorly spent energy on miss hits but Id pick him for Origin 2 to come off the bench.

Replace Napa with Myles. Napa did his part, as did Lillyman...Myles and Thaiday didn't do theirs.

I actually thought Napa was the best of the QLD props
My only problem with Napa was the miss hits. Thats it for me.

Yep good idea, bring him off the bench for Myles. Hes a good impact player for the Roosters.

Forgot about Thaiday - trying to think about his game last night and...forgotten! Obviously didnt do much.

I had a strong feeling we werent going to turn it around at half time. The first try to Oates was a 'thank god' because it was all NSW. They were the better side before, during and after the game. Extremely annoying.

Napa was there to line up blokes and misses go with the territory there.

Thaiday was supposed to have impact and, as you say, made a forgettable job of it.

Myles was absolutely rubbish. Queensland are big on loyalty, but they took it too far there

I'm no Myles fan at all, but his defence in the 1st 20 was outstanding

Walters is under huge pressure and in a very tough spot. His side is getting old, and there isn't a lot of star talent coming through, Taylor, Holmes, Ponga spring to mind immediately but not a lot else

Compare that to a NSW team who are mostly mid 20s and have guys like Trbojevic, Cleary, Mitchell, Moylan, Vaughan, Boyd, De Belin, Walker etc still coming up

I thought he was good too. Quieter in the 2nd half, but might have copped a knock.

Best 1st half of Origin in years and then NSW just sealed it with an emphatic 2nd half performance. I think Slater comes back in just to have that Smith and Cronk thing back again with him.

All in all a terrific game of footy.

QLD in real trouble with their middles... relatively little coming through at the moment, too.

Cows are in 'win now' mode until JT retires and I can't see them bringing along a young middle until that's over, instead they seem intent on bringing in average but somewhat more experienced guys from outside (Gubb).

The two best young Broncos middles are both NSW (Ese'ese & Pangai).

Only guy who looks ready to step in the middle for QLD anytime soon is Wallace (with Hess as a switch guy potentially).

Then consider Lillyman is 33, Myles & Thaiday both about to turn 32... compared to a 27yo Fifita, 23yo Klemmer & Trbo, a just-turned-26 Vaughan still to come in plus the rest of the relatively young group (those outside the squad right now too.. Boyd etc).

Didn't watch SoO. How did Lillyman go?

Worked hard and was one of the better Maroons forwards... but that's not a high standard in the context of the game. They got belted. Fifita went into beastmode, and Klemmer made a good 2nd fiddle.

Best game of league I have seen for a long time. What a difference it makes when the ref's don't keep stopping things.
Tedesco was awesome and I love what Maloney brings; small man but huge heart. And the Blues pack was terrific.

Not only that, but there were very few errors in that first half and the ball was in play for ages. The way league should be played tbh

Obviously yous two are blues supporters cos that wasnt a good game for me. Yeah the refs were great and yeah the low error count was a big part of why the refs went well but that game was one sided. Thats not NSW fault but as a QLD supporter, there was nothing to cheer about, a bit like watchin the Warriors.

I agree with the quote 'The way league should be played...' NSW did that and its scary to think that they can only get better and a thrashing maybe around the corner in Origin 2. Thurston or no Thurston, he aint stopping a pack like NSW got.
