Im devested as a Cowboys fan, with season 2011 over.

But that's got nothing to do with Origin itself.

f**k me weve just had the highest rating, best attended Origin series ever and we should get rid of it because a couple of dero's who post on LU don't like it???

Personally I'm over it as a long drawn out affair and would be happy with one interstate game a season. However we've created a monster now and it can't be killed. It's a Godzilla like version of the Golden Goose. It shits gold into the league coffers and therefore won't be going anywhere.
As a showpiece for the game it is both a blessing and a curse. It brings the best into battle with each other and thus, more often than not, provides great games. However it also perpetuates the position that the game is East Coast Oz centric, and thus alienates other states/nations which don't have large League fanbases. It doesn't aid in the growth or spread of the game if a whole host of players are shut out of the supposed Jewel in the Crown.
On Thurston, shit luck for the Cowboys. I think of all the sides in the top 5 they are more reliant on him then any other team is on one player. I don't usually buy into the whole 'one player team' thing, but he is just so dominant it is more relevant in this instance.

I hear this attitude a lot though, its like reverse discrimination or affirmative action.

We should aim to raise other contests (Aus V NZ, Aus V England) to the status of Origin, not kill Origin just because the other aren't. As an aside I would argue that the ANZAC tests are fast approaching this level.

but to cripple it because other events arent as a big is like saying Cronulla can't compete with the NRL, so all clubs should have there salary cap reduced to a amount that Cronulla can afford.

Although I must admit this game gave me some serious Bi-polar tendancies.

For 30mins I was said, angry and disgusted, then I was excited and pump for 5,
Then sad for another 30mins, then excited, scared and quivering for the last 10.

I'm not even playing yet my heart was racing, if I had high blood pressure, I reakon I'd be dead after last night.

Seriously, the AFL/Rugby can't even compete with us on this, so why would you can it?

^Because Uate was born and bred in NSW!
Because Petero was born and bred in QLD! Or Lote or Lam etc.

Inglis is a different case but like I said in the other thread it's done now he's made his choice.

You are a pea-hearted piece of shit. You give real NSW supporters a bad name. I don't want fair weather bandwagoners like you anyway, go f**k yourself. When we win our one game next year (I'm still realistic) you'll jump back out of the woodwork, pull out your Blues jersey hidden beneath the stilettos in your closet and start chanting 'New South Wales' as if you were here in the bad times with the real fans the whole time.

Yes, I'm aware of Queensland doing it, my post was in reply to what LS said implying that NSW are angels in this regard, in which they aren't.

Needs to be cancelled for a while. Until Thurston, Cam Smith, Inglis and Billy Slater retire.
