NRL has confirmed it was the highest rating RL game ever. There will be a story on their website soon.

Sensational numbers and rightly so.

It was some game...even my Mrs who can take it or leave it at best couldn't stop watching.

Origin is a jugernaught...a colossas and the scary thing is that it's only going to get bigger imo.

So, anyone still think they will be moving Origin to stand alone weekends?

Moving to a standalone weekend doesn't mean that ratings will necessarily drop. This also doesn't change the fact that both ratings and crowds have taken a huge hit yet again during the SOO period.

What people need to realize is that Origin is on a roll because of the "streak", as such, I prefer things as they are. One game of footie a week just aint enough for me unless they initiate a knockout cup of some sort to complement Origin.

Yeh that why the game 2 ratings are the worst of the series.
Its good that they banned fighting before game 3. ;-)
Interesting isn't it that despite the biff sprinkled first two games and the mountain of coverage those few moments induced, none of it harmed the game whatsoever.

Not necessarily no, but I doubt Channel 9 will be taking that risk. Each year it's getting bigger, so until that changes they won't be moving it.

Crowds will always go down in June and July regardless of Origin. We have to endure this thing called winter at that time of the year.

f**k me 4.19 million yeah - that's massive.

Still, it's needs to be stand alone in some way - I hate how it damages the NRL competition.

With those figures

It won't be going anywhere.

Settle in for wednesdays for a long time boys

Amazing results. Great reach outside the homeland

2 week gap should fix the nrl problem

4 week origin fest for all of June every year

Play 2nd 16th and 30th And that's it

Here is my plan.... Start the season one week earlier. Play Origin 1 on a standalone weekend and market that weekend as "Origin Weekend." Fill that weekend with an NRL Skills competition, U20 and Reserve Grade Origin, NZ Origin, and PI tests. Play games 2 and 3 on Wednesdays as normal. Space the games at 2 week intervals.

They "banned" it before Game 2 actually. So considering there was a fight in Game 2 then by your way of thinking, the ratings should have dropped even further.

Or the whole fighting thing could just be a bunch of nonsense.
