That was by far Nathan's worst game for NSW.
Martin was f**king excellent and Luai pretty good
Have to say defensively nathan was solid, most games he always is, problem is his no variation in attack... DCE went for a 40/20 of a 2nd tackle, nathan wont chance his arm in origin, he'll let loose in a club game, but i feel this blues team is a downgrade to what a Penrith club team offers cleary in options

I do wonder about this. Is it coaching or is it Nathan going into his shell for NSW? He has got the job done for the Panthers in big games so I am not sure why he is so timid in SOO?

Nathan's game management kicking was quite decent. People cry about bombs but that's the play and it works. What was hopeless was his total inability to capitalise especially with QLD a player down.

Its the cattle, you tell me Haas, Paulo and TPJ is better than JFH, Moses and Leniu... no way, they get us on the front foot, then there's the opposition QLD, have guys that are more about breaking the ad line,
The blues aren't doing what andrew fifita used to do..
We are constantly playing on the backfoot

Trying to pin this on the halfback is classic NSW fan behavior. Cleary has a poor kicking game, this is true. But none of the halves really stepped up tonight at all. Luai had some nice touches and DCE kicked a 40/20. That's it. Munster did nothing.

NSW had nothing defensively, Queensland were a lot faster in attack, even though I think they had about 6 real opportunities. The fact Queensland scored 26 points with the little amount of possession they had, the injuries and even going down to 12 is an utter embarrassment. NSW were extremely poor especially the right edge, they had nothing going down that side. Slater had the balls to make some big calls team selection wise, NSW didn't and that was really the deciding factor if you ask me. Tedesco is so obviously past it, but gotta pick and stick. Turbo is running on fumes, but gotta pick and stick.

QLD knew NSW had nothing in attack so they were happy to give away penalties. Slowing NSW down was the perfect coaching call, Fitler probably never even considered that. He just thinks giving the ball to Turbo will work just like it did a few years ago. Slater is miles ahead of Fitler in the coaching department.

Josh Addo Carr was way out of position.

Nsw had more possession and field position there's no excuse.

It's Ivan's simple man tactics coached into him.. strong carry from the back five... kick high and long to give time for the defensive line to get set and aim up in d..

All based around mistake free and risk free footy...

But you need more than that in origin games..

Like dce tonight. Kicking on tackle 2 to get them put of trouble etc

Personally I'm pinning it on tedesco. Edwards plays NSW win.

That is an overly simplistic analysis of Cleary’s track record; look at the 2022 finals series to see how he responds with a quality kicking game in big games.

No it wasn't.. it was horrible.

Tell me how the bombs play worked tonight?

Didn't even try a floater!

He's attacking bombs were all over the shop...

He's long bombs we're simple catches and he was kicking way way before the line... not even under pressure sometimes..

Honestly it was like qld knew he would bomb so they didn't rush up at all... but instead of playing eyes up footy and seeing no pressure he just bombs...

Nsw had all the ball.. Nathan had to be better..

Yes it's NOT just his fault. It's many... but hes kicking really isn't in a good way atm

He has no plan B.

Even for us if we are chasing points he struggles.

Origin they have the best guys to pressure him as they know what is coming

Where has that bomb gone?

He broke Waqa Blake and hasn't used it since

Hopefully Fittler makes changes maybe Cook, Reynolds, Walker, Mitchell, Graham with Murray starting. Be good for us but there will only be two changes Spencer will get picked to replace Young and Mitchell will replace Crichton.

Who was going to catch the bombs though?

the Short wingers?

Needed more variety in the kicking game

Murray and Martin to start for Young and TPJ.

The outside backs to go on their normal sides is about the only realistic changes

Sorry to say this, I really am, but the Panthers were overall shit. Yeo and Cleary were our worst.

I said a few weeks back that this is the worst season I have seen Cleary play. He is just a Robot out there. No creativity. No finesse or great timing. No thinking multiple plays ahead. He is just a robot. But his kicking game is greatly diminished, and he is now dropping off tackles as well.

Luai is still off when playing the link man to the backline.

Critta the only fault you could say for him is he tried too hard. To'o was decent in a beat team.

Yeo was honestly diabolical with ball in hand. I have no idea what is up with him at Rep level, but he could be one of those guys who is an absolute stud at 1st Grade but mediocre at Rep level. I hope he makes me look like an idiot in game 2 & 3 but he has some history now with the Blues. I can't shake the feeling that someone like Murray would be a better option.

Martin is the only player from our team who could be proud of his performance.

Finally - I think we were out selected and out coached. Freddy just doesn't have it - well not compared to Slater/Smith/Thurston.

Fox was crap. Hudson Young a liability. TPJ bone headed selection. And Teddy was awful. It's clear that he is in significant decline.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but I'd honestly have Cook, Walker, Murray connection with Latrell. Their style of play better suits rep footy. A (misfiring) Panthers Ball does not and QLD coaching staff has us figured out.
