Smith is always looking for new shots for the shorter forms. He was one of those looking at the double sided bat that Warner used briefly.

Can't believe he is not in the ODI squad, he has to be better value than
a nuffy like Voges.

Smith at this stage is a good bat at state level having played a couple of good innings. It probably says more about the level of Sydney grade cricket.

Fine, he is a slow bowler who by the time he was the same age as Smith is now had taken 69 first class wickets @ 34 or after 9 matches he had 19 wickets @ 39
he's turned out to be such a good bowler he doesn't even bowl himself anymore. He got by early on because batsman believed the myth he was a good bowler, abit like defenders use to believe in the myth that was Karmichael Hunt's sidestep. White has become such a good bowler he can't even considered an all rounder anymore

I actually think the comparison between White and Smith is pretty good.

Both really good strikers of the ball who can whack it

Both in the infancy of their careers showed promise as a leggie (which White did early on).

White obviously never really developed as a leggie and gradually bowled less and less.

Hopefully Smith develops his bowling more, but at this stage of his career he is very much like a Cameron White at the same stage.

Smith has show far more Imo at the same age, White was just labeled the
next Warne because he was Victorian with Blond hair.

Though White had actually taken more wickets at a much better average......

I do think Smith has more potential than White as a bowler. But at some point he has to convert that into wickets.

I always thought White bowled too flat right from the start and never really rated him as a leggie

At this stage of Smiths career he already has much better flight but that could be from Warnie's influence.

I do like White as an ODI batsman, very talented.

Such a sh*tstirrer, pot shots with every post. Sydney Grade is of a very very high standard, it's just that, much like im assuming Victorian Premier Cricket, there is a giant gap betweeen grade and first class cricket.

Yet the media seem to think NSW grade cricket is on the same level or even better than first class cricket with every time a NSW player takes a bag or makes some runs they talk them up for the test side

I remember Phil Jaques early this summer, Fox Sports were talking of all the runs he had made and saying he was back in contention for the test side, yet in his 2nd XI matches he had failed and the NSW team were still in India
