He wasn't even in the starting team and wanted to go somewhere else to play in the starting side. So he agrees to go to the Titans.

Webster gets injured. Turner cements himself in the side then turns around and says he has changed his mind.

He's not a man of his word, and alot of his tries he barely had to do anything due to great work from hsi inside guys.

Turner is a winger and a winger's job is to finish backline movements with pace...admittedly he is no Webster and does not have the bulk but he did his job.

When he makes Origin let me know please.

It should be this year, since he's so good and all.

That'd have to be one of the most stupid comments i've ever read. I notice that you didn't comment on Turner starting and not coming off the bench as you claimed, could that be because you were flat out wrong and didn't want to bring even more attention to mistake? I'm also still waiting to hear the real reason why he wanted to leave because starting on the bench sure as sh*t aint it.

As for Origin, who the hell even mentioned he'd play out of any of us besides you? So if Turner or any other player for that matter doesn't make Origin does that mean they're no good? Are your serious? Players can go through their entire career without pulling on the maroon or blue like the vast majority of players don't, but that's hardly an indicator that they're no good. Have a think about it genius, 34 players make up the two teams that take the field in Origin, does that mean there's only 34 players in the WHOLE league that are good enough to make the grade? It was just a ridiculous comment you made and you've once again let your ignorance shine through for all to see. I can't wait to see what little pearl of wisdom you're going to share with us next

For every player who lives up to their potential and makes it in the NRL or any other sport for that matter, there's 10 that don't and end up staying in the lower grades or giving it away all together.

Are you just plucking numbers from the air or have you actually done a survey to quantify your claims.

The bottom line is melbourne were in the wrong, they knew it and that is why they traded the two juniors and paid compensation to the titans, this is after your ceo waldron had been quoted numerous times saying he would not negotiate the trading of two storm juniors, nor would he pay the titans compensation. Searle had always stated that they would trade turner on the above conditions, if not he would have the matter heard in a court, never swayed from this stance.

Great conduct from both turner and your club. I see integrity is not a commodity at olympic park.

Ahh Johnsy, i see you're still a bitter and twisted Dragons supporter who's hatred for Melbourne has not abated in the slightest. One can only imagine what transpired last year in your exit of the finals has only fuelled that burning hatred even more. I'm hoping it'll continue into the 2007 season

Anyway, no i have not done any research on numbers i was just pointing out that many kids who show potential as a youngster don't always go on to the heights that were expected of them. If you think that every kid lives up to expectations that are placed on many of them you're dreaming. I'm sure every league of any sport around the world is littered with kids that just couldn't cut it in the big time and are never heard of again.

I've seen it so many times here in the AFL over the years and i've also saw it first hand with a couple of mates of mine. Anyway i hope the 2 guys Storm gave up go on with it and cement a first grade spot. They may and they may not and we don't know yet, but i do know potential alone is no gaurantee to get to the yop and that's all i'm saying. It's not that hard to work out really.

Michael Searle's original conditions is that he would NOT release Turner to Melbourne unless the juniors he recieved were Kevin Procter and Smith Samau. It wasn't Daniel Isaacs and Samau, it wasn't somebody else and Samau, it was Kevin Procter and Samau. Procter's the one they wanted badly, they didn't get him and they were never going to. Searle is quoted as saying if the Storm don't come to the party on this deal then it will in no way go ahead (see below) Now last time i checked Procter wasn't part of the deal, a deal that was supposedly not going to go ahead with out him.

Yes Waldron said he wouldn't trade juniors, but he also said he wouldn't trade Procter and he didn't. That's when BOTH men cut a bit of slack and compromised. The emaphasis being on both because they both softened on their original demands. As for him saying he wouldn't pay any compensation, well he's not Turner's paying so it's not costing the Storm anything.

Here's what Searle originally stated in regards to the Procter - Samau swap:

"I don't think the Gold Coast Titans can go back to the table again with a better proposal, and we won't.We are done. That is it. That's our final propsoal. "If Melbourne want Steve Turner to play with them in 2007, they come to a resolution on the player swap."

Make of that what you will.

No you didn't say he started on the bench, but what you did say was that he wasn't in the starting team so he wanted to go somewhere to play in the starting side. If he wasn't in the starting side as you said and he didn't come off the bench as you didn't say but implied, then where the hell else did he come from to play his 27 games last season? Did he abseil in by helicopter commando style onto the field? :sarcasm:

Nothing to do with me being a "bitter and twisted" dragons fan. I think that melbournes and turners conduct was disgracefull. Just voicing an opinion. Your laughable dig at me does not change the facts of how your club conducted themselves.

I suppose it may well be the other side of the coin if your club behaves in a disgracefull manner and you feel the need to defend them at all costs. How you perceive another is more of a reflection of you.

Thank you for your wisdom oh wise one

I've said all along that Steve Turner was in the wrong he made a mistake, he admits he was in the wrong and pretty much everyone else knows he was in the wrong. But i hardly think the club acted in a disgraceful manner as you put it. Could they have handled a few things differently? Of course they could've and Waldron has said as much. Is that defending them at all costs? I don't think so knackers. But they're certainly not friendless there, Steve Turner could've handled things differently and just as importantly so could've the Titanics also. If you think the Storm are the only ones to blame for this situation then that's more of a reflection on you as a bitter and twisted St George supporter ;-)

exactly the Titans dispite what they've led you to believe are not innocent victims, they had 2 months to get Steve to sign a contract.

And the storm knew turner had agreed to join the titans and yet they offered him a contract..if they hadnt offered a contract turner wouldnt have had a change of heart and we wouldnt have had this off season saga,so you could say it all goes back to melbourne.
