How wierd is it that two world motorbike champs in two different sports come from Kurri Kurri - which is basically 100 old weather board houses, a pub and a school.
I suppose all those old coal pit chitter heaps are perfect for jumping motor bikes over, which explains Chad Reed, but god knows how stoner learnt to ride fast through the potholes on Cessnock road.

Good work Casey, now if only I could afford the upgrade to a Ducati like him!!!

Awesome, to come home with 3 rounds to go having been crowned world champ.

Beat the best too.

I doubt it gets better than that!

I don't know if it was reported in the Sydney press - but in the Newcastle press they did a few articles on him when he had a month off recently - and he spent the month working on his fitness with Cessnock cyclist Robbie Peden. They had several pics of him riding up sugarloaf and quotes from Robbie saying he could be a pro cyclist if he had the time to train.
Seems the way he wins is by being the fittest rider.

sorry - Robbie Peden is a boxer - Casey was trained by Anthony Peden.

The way he wins is that he has the fastest bike!

That is what Max Biaggi used to say about Rossi.

Rossi then went to Yamaha and promptly won the World Title again.

Ducati have never won (a WC) in this class, until now. If it was just Caparossi they would still have zero.

Ducati have ALWAYS had superior top speed than thier rivals, this is not new at all.

But hey it is the bike, the rider is over rated.

I was watching an old movie staring dirk bogarde on ABC last night about motorcycle speedway in England before wwII.
It reminded me that the only sports invented in Australia are motorcycle speedway and polo cross and bothe were invented in the Hunter Valley.
On sixty minutes the other day they were talking about all the bike racers who come out of Kurri Kurri - and i suppose there is a history going back nearly a hundred years now since Kurri Kurri is only about 10ks away from where motorcycle speedway was invented in Maitland.

exactly :)

ps. i think Max Biaggi would have more idea then you
The main reason Rossi moved to yamaha because he knew how competitive it would be, similar to Alonso moving away from Renault and to maclaren

Alonso moved away for the bigger buck... now he's getting the move on again by the team this time

Stoner's Team are all class... His bike has been basically unbeatable all year... Not taking anything away from stoner but i think if most riders were aboard that bike they would have won the world championship this year.
It would be very interesting to see who would win a championship if all the bikes had the same top speed and race pace.
