well its a long story and I think that their is a moral story here - what consistutes a contract? If the player says "righto - I'll think about it" over the phone - that is not an agrement - however it would be hard to prove that a "yes - I accept the contract" is not an agreementand is legally binding.

But then again I am not a lawyer - but I know if it were me and he did it - I would be washing my hands and saying - well to hell with him - its obvious if they force the player to play with them then they aren't going to get full value.

A bit of give and take here required.

Thats a fair call Ozzie.

If it wasn't for Tapp, we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. His days as a CEO are numbered. No souths fans like him, nor do they have any faith in him.

Is this about Dallas Rennie?

If so I dont know what Souths are doing. He's 19, hasn't played first division, let alone NRL, and is well knowwn to be injury prone.

Let Manly bloody have him.

It amazes me the lengths they are going to with Rennie, when they let Merritt walk out the front door without saying boo.

Excerpt from Manly Daily re: Rennie

"The fact still remains that Manly is the only club to have Dallas Rennie's signature on a contract," Manly football manager Peter Peters said yesterday.
"No-one from Souths bothered talking to him face-to-face and they wouldn't know him if they fell over him.
"The kid thinks (Souths CEO) David Tapp is a dancer and (chairman) Nick Pappas is the head of the Greek Orthodox Church.   "Why do Souths persist in chasing players who don't want to play for them?
"Our legal advice is we haven't done anything wrong and we've informed the NRL we won't be attending mediation."
Tapp yesterday confirmed the Rabbitohs would continue to fight for Rennie's services despite Manly's reluctance to discuss the issue.
"It's not the South Sydney way (to give up)," he said.
"But this isn't really a Souths against Manly case.
"It's about an athlete agreeing to terms and then performing a giant backflip.
"We believe we have a legally binding agreement in place and we will keep fighting until it's resolved."

yeah sign up some kids like Terry "I'm over the" Hill .
vlad, Tezza might be over the hill but I for one am pleased he'll be at Souths for 2004. He will bring a wealth of experience to what is essentially a very young and inexperienced team. I hope he proves his knockers wrong.

Yeah, like how to milk penalties. Tezz should try his luck in the movies. With a little bit of help he could win the Oscar's in a year or so.

And their big signing Tezza, can't even say spoons without drowning four people, or can he keep a vehicle on the road when he is only low range, A bit like souths really, no excuses in the world really but they can't keep on track.

They may as well go the whole hog and have Alan Jones as coach, he's great, he has a winning percentage of 36.36%, that's better than what souths have done in the last 5 years they've been playing. He's a good.......um.............I'm sure he'd something good for Souths.

Or "sign me for two years even though I'm 32" Sattler.
However Sattler isn't more has a couple of differences:
1. He isn't as injury prone as Mr Bump... Sorry Mr Men books might be a
bit advanced for you Souths supporters I hope you can still understand what I mean.....
2. He can drive a car and not run into ppls houses........
3. He's not drunk.......
4. He can speak.......
Enjoy Tezza and all his "EXPERIENCE" you guys keep saying he'll bring to the club...............
