MG: Matt Orford Not Answer for Eels Post 12 October, 2010 - 12:44 PM

MG says Matt Orford is not the answer for Eels after the former Manly captain asked for an immediate release from English Super League club Bradford.
According to reports in The Daily Telegraph, the former Manly cap'n has asked for an immediate release to play for the Eels.
"I think the board and behind the scenes is their problem at the moment, not what's going on on the field", says MG.
"They seem to be a ship without a rudder and they need to address that really really soon."
The Daily Telegraph reports Orford is in Australia for shoulder surgery and doesn't want to return to his Yorkshire club in November.
"If I was Bradford, I'd say you can go mate but what I want from Parramatta is two players, I'd want Daniel Mortimer and someone else," says MG.
The Yorkshire club signed the 32 year-old Orford on a three year deal last year and says it doesn't want to lose him but also doesn't want to keep an unhappy player.
Bulls chief executive Ryan Duckett told the BBC Website: "Nothing has changed. He remains contracted for another two years."
Triple M's The Cage Marto says it's effing wrong if you sign a contract and ask fans to believe in you and then renegade on that to come back to Australia.

MG = :alcho:

So it was not our lack of a halfback??? Good on ya MG.

They can take him ....

LOL @ MG LOL, he doesn't think before he opens his mouth.

The team had no halfback and no direction this year that was our problem. We realised we can't just let one man do everything on the field each week. Orford will be the answer for next year and maybe 2012, as someone said in another thread if we had orford this year you can throw in 2 wins against the sharks, one against the knights at newcastle and the one against brisbane at parra, 4 more wins and we get into the top 8.

HALF BACK IS THE PROBLEM MG NOT THE BOARD!

um.. i agree with MG..
Me too.
Not regarding letting morts go but with regards to it being the boards fault.
The board is an absolute mess and needs to be fixed asap.
I blame the board this year and not being able to keep their mouths shut.

If we get Orford, he better be on a one year deal or a massively front-loaded deal.....

Still - we need an organising halfback, at least as a fallback. Mortimer will be a better player with an experienced half guiding him.

What's wrong with you, of course it was the board, you don't expect the coach to be held responsible for any of those things do you?

i love how people just decide we can swap Morts with Orford  ..... because of course Morts wouldn't have any say it in - players are just assets to be flipped around the world as it suits us

So it's the boards fault we only managed to score 4 points against newcastle and 6 against brisbane and the boards fault for the 2 losses against the sharks?? Seriously guys come on, the problem is our halves, it's not the board, i agree that the board may be leaking to much to the media which is not a good thing for the club but that is not the reason we are going bad.

So some of you think even if we had andrew johns or thurston as our halfback this year we still would of failed to make the 8 due to the what the board has done??

Well thats who the board signed wasn't it?? That's who the board put pressure on everytime they opened their mouth?? That's who the board actively tried to seek replacements for halfway through the season!!

How come they werent considered the worst 6,7,9 in the comp last year?
You cant say the board didnt have a massive input into how our season went.
If there was one thing i would say about the players this year it was the fact they played with no heart at all this year, something im sure SK will make sure changes very quickly.

Not having a go at you or anything hineyrulz. just an opinion.

the board took alot of pats on the back for the "good vibes" helping the success of 2009 .... I think they've gotta man-up and take some of the blame for the demise in 2010 also ... seems only logical - sh*t off the field does have an effect

It's totally the boards Fault. It's got to be. Roy Spags needs to develop a better passing game and set up some trys.

A good short kicking game by spags close to our line would be handy to, and if osborne can develop on offload when he takes the ball forward then we will be hard to beat.

No probs mate, just think while the board have made mistakes this year but blaming all our on field woes on them is pushing it just a little bit to far. A halfback was the major problem with last season IMO.
