Suggestions Thread for Next Year's Version

I posted this on another forum, don't know how much has already been posted:

Graphics: Better character detail and higher res textures.
Better crowd detail and animation.
Motion capture for running, stepping, kicking and try scoring and many variations of all of these (these were all the weaker animations IMO).

Gameplay: Better pass detection system and less stray passes
Different movement engine to stop the big loops players do when turning around.
More options from dummy half (eg pass to 5/8 standing deep on 5th tackle).
More detailed kicking mechanics (eg players should stop running when going for a drop goal etc) and ability to pass to players standing deep for kicks (to give them room) aswell as an option to have either "matrix" kicking or real time kicking.
Less high tackles and penalties.
Better catching ability for players off the kick off (to counter the kick off trick).

Modes: Kangaroo, Lions and Kiwi tour options
More international teams and competitions.
Classic or some sort of novelty match mode.
More Unlockables (eg World 13 team etc).

Sound: Maybe throw the whole channel nine crew into the mix for the next eddition.
More variation and noise in crowd reaction ( maybe riots could be heard starting when the bulldogs are losing ).

I've said it before and I'll say it again...injuries. Both season-ending/extended periods and injurred players can return to the game. In the current version once a player is injured he is out the entire game. Who's to say he can't come back half-way though? Extended period injuries will test the depth of the clubs playing ranks.

Oh, and suspensions as well! :twisted:

Indeed. But instead of the kicker always being wrapped up, the kick gets away and bounces around instead..

Hey Mario, if you read this, can you tell me what the likelyhood of having classic matches or an unlockable "winfeild cup" mode like the one some of the boys here have done?

Instead of players getting WRONGLY sinbinned for high-shots, in season mode, maybe they can be placed on report.

If they are they maybe charged...then you have the option to "fight" the charge or agree to plead guilty....it will be a random thing...just a gamble


2) If you have a multi-tap, what about the possibilty of one person controlling the ref? It would certainly make things intersting and add a great deal of spice to the game between your mate

3) The ability to call for you kicker to come into position at any time....this would allow to set up for 40/20s and drop goals easier!

Theres been tonnes of gameplay stuff and it's the most important part, but it would be cool if the presentation was made alot slicker.
What I'd like to see is something like they way channel 9 have the 3D logos of smashing against corrigated iron etc before the match, or the way fox have the cool 3D stadium with the slick 3D team logos come into view after the camera zips though and outside the stadium... It would also add to the feeling of simulation to have the team line ups shown the way they do on TV (with each player folding their arms and all that).
I think the major improvement I'd like to see though is the crowd effects (in regard to things not involved with the players or gameplay)... I'd love to see the teams flags waving in the audience (anyone ever see that massive one comprised of tonnes of smaller flags and a tricolour flag, that a roosters supports always bring to the home roosters matches? that would be cool to see)and more variation and detail in the cloths actions of people in the crowd (like seeing mexican waves in the big sell outs like the GF and SOO etc)... The Fifa crowds look pretty cool, if it was like that it would be awsome.

The game needs more options. Penalties ON/OFF. Knock On's ON/OFF. Infringment Replay's ON/OFF. Big Hit Replay's ON/OFF. You get the idea. Although some people might not agree, I think there should be more visual information present when playing. Things like the number and name of the player you are currently controlling displayed at the bottom of the screen (like WCR), and even directly beneath the player, both options being able to toggle.

Passing and player movement needs to be tighter.

Forwards need to be able to drive forward in tackles before being taken to ground.

Bombs need a better targeting marker that accurately depicts where the ball is going to land, and it should stay there until the ball hits the ground (or is caught). Poorer kickers could have a bigger circular marker when placing the kick, and once the ball is in the air the circle shrinks to shown where the ball will land, but i could be anywhere within the original larger target.

There needs to be a dedicated button for diving/jumping for the ball. This would also be the score try button, and also used for attempting charge-downs.

More varied try scoring animations, and any that include a dive doesnt carry the player 10m forward before grounding the ball.

Remove the current big-hit-roll-15m's tackles and replace them with more realistic big-hits. Also more varieties of 2 man tackles.

All tackles from behind should be around the legs. Also not all ankle-taps should be successful, some should simply dive-and-miss while some might make the player stumble for a few steps before regaining his balance.

Players are positioned properly in attack and defense.

The side-step could be changes so it uses the same controls as the dummy, hold X (for X Box) and press either L or R to step off the left or right foot. At the monent the side-step is a bit too powerful because the player barely loses and speed or momentum, and even props can leave 2 or 3 people lying in their wake after performing ridiculously despairing dives.
They could make more realistic and varied animations for the side-steps like they have for the fends, and maybe different animations are used for slow lumbering players compared to nimble backs. More realistic and varied animations for missed tackles on side-stepping players too.

Another one:

Each team has a stat for home advantage and away performance.

They would affect the players stats slightly so that home teams would get an advantage.

Range of stat should be:

-50 / 50

-50 / 0 would reduce the teams ability in that circumstance.

And vice versa.

-More exaggerated player shapes (similar to WCR) for easier identification on field.
-Codes/unlockables that actually affect gameplay and dont just change graphics. Ability to turn on/off by menu once found.
-Adjustable camera angles height, zoom etc.
-Better camera angles for stops of play.
-Teams automatically reposition after stop of play. No more waiting for kicker to run from sideline to take drop-outs.
-Manual button press required for feeding of scrums and taking taps.
-Markers under players indicating who would receive the ball if passed including cut-out passes.

A new attribute consistency. Players low in this stat will more often have there stats reduced than others. The reduction is unknown to the user, so it will be a gamble to play a player that is low in this attribute.

We need a way to run a drop off. Maybe pressing both passing buttons together to make the player on your outside cutback and recieve the ball. This does happen sometimes and is very effective but is hard to duplicate.
