There seems to be some concern on the Warrington forum regarding Sully. This relates to:
- his gambling
- the fact that he is a bench player
- the lack of impact by Jason Kent in the ESL
although I would rather he stayed with us, I tried to post there to say, that next to Craig Wing, Sully is arguably the best bench impact player in the NRL. They wouldn't let me post their board for whatever reason. At least some other bloke told them Sully is a goodun'.

As a Wire fan I am concerned over the signing of this player. Firstly it seems that we have targeted him as a replacement 7 for next year. Does he have the abilities to do so or is he an out and out number 9?

Another thing is all this gambling business. I understand his reasons for telling everyone and I also admire the fact that he is trying to solve his problem, however IF he comes to Warrington and has a couple of bad games there are a minority that will get on his back for not trying and just being over here on holiday and to pay off his debts. This is the nature of the beast and he will have to be pretty level headed to deal with it. Yet he describes himself as "Weak". That does not fill me with confidence whatsoever.

It seems our original target of Matt Orford is not going to come off now so this lad looks the next in line. If he is not fully prepared and focussed on the job at hand he could find himslef in worse troublel than he is already. Our coach does not suffer fools gladly and if he doesn't pull his weight he will be shipped home on the next boat.

On a personal level he looks an exciting player and I would love to see him playing well at Warrington next season (or this) as we are currently only a few key players away from challenging the for top honours. The more quality players the better.

I think he has the ability to succeed as a 7, especially in the English game (no disrespect intended). He mightn't have the organisational abilities of some of the better halfbacks, but he's a creative player and has a reasonable kicking game.

And he'll definately increase the crowd numbers (females especially).

W_G, Sullivan is actually a half we converted to a 9 so yes he can play 7 quite well. His preference is as a half. He has won MOTM awards as a half filling in for Noddy.

I won't comment on the other stuff as you're the one there and know what will happen more than me or us. Let's just hope that minority don't get the chance.

hmmm.

I will obviously take your guys word on his ability as you have the advantage of seeing him week in and week out. No disrespect taken. We have a stand off that can kick teams to death so that isn't an issue. The current problem with the scrum halfwe have now is his passing game. The ball distribution down our left flank is poor. We need a player that can breath some life back into that left handside with some decent passing.

So all in all you would be sad to see him leave? He would be an excellent signing for us?

P.S Is he bringing his sister?

Thats great info. To be honest I am not trying to paint a bad picture of our fans but we are very vocal over here. Whether that be with our songs supporting the team or other things. We are in general a great bunch but there are a few idiots (all clubs have them) who will shout and pass judgement which no doubt he will hear.

He will get plenty of support off the rest of us though to help him through what is obviously a difficult period in his life. I hope we gain a few more Wire fans if he does come over here!! You lot that is!

I'm one of his biggest critics and have been right into him this year. No apologies for that either fellow Shark forummers!

The 2 biggest issues I have had with him though relate to him being a 9. He is sometimes very sloppy with his dummy half service and he is small and as a 9 defending in the middle I see him as a bit of a weak link.

That all changes when he's a 7 though. His passing is more natural or will be after a few games in the role and he can defend wider and be protected from tackling 110 kilo forwards in the heat of the action.

We actually bought him as a half. The first year he did a knee and sat out. The next year Noddy came over rather unexpectedly. In order for Michael to be an NRL player it was hooker or nothing.

He had a great year as hooker last year. But fell away this year. Maybe now we have some insight into that.

It's probably no surprise that in the week he came clean and got the pressure off a bit he came back to form and got a MOTM against the Roosters last Friday.

At the top of his game he's quite good and he will be a loss that won't be easy to replace in his rather unique role. There is really only him and Wing who play the role as hooker/impact players. Maybe PJ Marsh.

I think you can say you'll get a good player if he comes.

As to Neroli his sister - I don't know if she'll go with him. I don't want to wake her to ask!!

<SLAP> Wakes up - err was I dreaming?

Yeah, Wire Godfather. Tried to post your forum to negate some of the negatives but couldn't get thru. IMO Sullivan is the best bench impact player in the NRL outside Craig Wing. Kimmorley is our resident half so Sully only plays there when Noddy is out injured. A few years ago Sully combined with Brett Firman to form a real formidable 1/2, 5/8 combo in Premier League, so he's no stranger to those positions. IMO if we lose Sully it will certainly leave a gap to fill.

Prbably best going on RLFANS.COM to do it. I think he may well be looking at a starting shirt. Do you think he is up to it fir the full 80 mins?

Thanks, Wire Godfather. At halfback for 80 mins. No problems there, Wire Godfather. We've been using Sully as a No.9. We bring him on when the big forwards tire a bit and he just carves them up. At No.7 where the defence is a little thinner he can do it a little easier. As mentioned, a few years ago Sully combined with Brett Firman to form a lethal combination in Premier League; unfortunately injuries put paid to that. Dunno if you've seen much NRL, WG, but if you've seen Craig Wing or Preston Campbell then you'd have a pretty good idea of what Sully's all about.

Wire Godfather. While sully may have admitted his "weakness" in personality for falling into an addiction to the punt, he has shown himself this week to be one of the STRONGEST characters in the NRL. He came out and admitted it. ALso, on the field, he is anything but weak and has shown toughness beyond his years with the recent death of his mum, often dirving over night after matches and back again in the morning to visit her for an hour or so.

Another bloke who you would not class as weak when looking at buying is STEVE PRICE. He came out today in support of sully and said he had a similar problem on the punt 4 years ago which nearly ruined him.

Sully is gutsy and will bust his ass for you guys, great buy.

News today is that there is a chance sully may well stay a shark ;-

his new financial advisor/manager greg willet is working with the sharks to try and formulate a financial plan to see him stay here, where they believe his career will be better benefitted.

That's the best news I have heard all day. Hope they can work something out. Maybe if every Sharks fan donated $10 to the cause we could help ease his financial burdon. We could have a Sully telethon to keep him here. If the Sharks paid out his debts they should be trying to hang onto him so they can get their money back. If he goes to England there is no guarantee of that.
