Me and a mate have been brain storming a finals series that actually rewards finishing on top of the ladder. After several minutes of deliberation we have come up with a solutuion that will revolutionise sport as we know it.

We are after feedback as im sure you will give.

We have named him the Super 7 Finals Series. He is very much designed to make everyone in the finals eat all their dinner or they do not get any dessert. The first week of the draw will see us left with basically week 2 of the old top five. But any hoo, we are prepared so read on and then give it to us.

Yes as opposed to two in the current system. The Minor Premiers are the only team that are advantaged due to them being the best side over the course of the season.

Mayor Quimby - Why?

Croyden - it could also be suggested that being matched up against the number 2 side in the comp is the hard task. It is also structured that the bottom 5 teams have to beat one of the top two atleast once to remain in the competition.

team 7 should not have it so easy in terms of making the GF. They are in 7th place afterall.
Sure they had to beat team 2 to get there, but so what.

2nd place has absolutely no advantage for being the 2nd best team in the comp, one loss and they are out. thats not right IMO. Whilst 7th place can win one game and make it to a GF play off, again not right.

There is no real emphisis placed on the importances of making the top 4, infact anything betweem 7th and 2nd is really no difference. 7th also has an quicker path to the GF, potentially its of greater benifit to finish 7th then 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th

its an absolute mess of a system... you and your mate should stop the petrol sniffing and give yaselfs a could of quick ones

Dragonfly - you should've spent a few more minutes on it... Then screwed it up & thrown it out...

I'd be less than amused if a sh*thouse Cronulla (7) had've fluked a victory against St George Illawarra (2) & been eliminated - because they finished 2nd on F/A...

Didn't the eventual Premiers finish 2nd & get beaten by 7th last year?

yes.,..the dogs lost to the cowboys.

Dragon...with ur system there is no real reward with finishing 7th vs 2nd or vs 6th. System is poor.
Take Raider 69 advice

What I don't like about with that system is in week 1 team 2 can get eliminated, but a loss in week 2 gets them a life. A good finals syustem needs to be consistent throughout

Possibly the worst system I have ever seen.

1. It is impossible for the teams that finish 1 & 2 to play in the GF - something any half decent system allows for.

2. Team 7 has a chance to progress to the GF qualifier after 1 game but team 3 has to play a minimum of 2 games to get to the GF qualifier????????????

3. A week off for the minor premiers has not proven an advantage in the past - more of a disadvantage.

4. Team 2 can be eliminated in the first round??

Personally I don't like the system. I think the sooner that the NRL adopt the AFL system of 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3, but they're not elimination games. Then the elimination games are 5 vs 8 and 6 vs 7. I think that the AFL system works better, and they have 3 weeks of home finals which is a bonus for teams finishing as high as they possibly can.

I agree. The AFL system is so much better and fairer. And I love the way they have home finals right up to the GF qualifier.
