Increase club funding = increase broadcast and sponsorship revenue.

How? Toulouse and Toronto.
Nah. Just keep the same clubs from the same small northern towns and just f**k with the playoff or p/r system every few years. That'll have the sponsors and broadcasters falling over themselves..

Hull, Huddersfield and Hull KR achieved SL status by winning promotion.
And then kept it by being handed a licence. The point is, they flip and flop over what constitutes "earning" a place in SL so to say "Toulouse hasn't earnt it" is based on an arbitrary and temporary definition of what "earning it" means. Widnes was the last club to "earn" a place and they did it by meeting a criteria and being judged on a range of factors, none of which included winning the second tier comp. If the rfl came out tomorrow and said we're going to expand SL next year and promotion will be based on XYZ then any club who is promoted could be said to have "earnt it". XYZ might be the club outside SL with the most revenue, or the best ground, or the most potential to add value, prestige and interest to the comp. Or maybe just who wins the championship. Either way, this notion that only one of those possibilities counts as "earning it" is not only contrary to what has happened in the recent past it is also irrelevant to the future.

I'd say the MPG play off is likely to be between Huddersfield and Salford.

Huddersfield v Hull KR in the lead up will prove crucial to deciding 4th spot. As will London v Salford for 5th.

Who are we hoping drops down then? Most people on Salford?

A tough one. I like Huddersfield so preferably not them and indifferent on rovers. Maybe Salford just to see if koukash is committed.

With the financial gap so large it's very surprising that they managed to do it and I'm the second season of the structure. Since the salary cap is increasing next year maybe the movement between divisions could become the norm.

From memory Leigh don't have a academy setup. Is it a requirement for superheated clubs to field u19 etc...? Or will Leigh settle for a dual reg agreement with a lower league side to harvest platers? Certainly a downside to Salford going down is their Academy could be in danger

Clubs outside super league don't have academy/junior set ups because the RFL don't provide a competition for clubs to run teams....its a disgrace

Really happy for Leigh, they have deserved promotion for a number of years. I do fear however that leigh's success will mean the RFL keeps this silly super and middle 8 system instead of automatic promotion/relegation. I think Huddersfield offer the most to the comp so I hope they stay. Personally would rather Salford go done. Would rather London go up in place of Hull KR as well even though that's unlikely.

Salford feel like a dead club at the moment. The move to the new stadium has killed them. I don't know what would happen to them if they went down.

There is a Championship reserves competition, or at least there was until most of the teams scrapped it due to the cost.

Is there a specific reason why the Rfl does not?

What about London and Bradford they play in the academy leagues. Seems to me it's down to who want to and/or afford it

Outside of superheated academies is it all amateur clubs for development?
