Super Bowl 50: Carolina v Denver

Finally caught up with the game. Not the most exciting SB I have seen. The better team won.

As for Newton and him not trying to retrieve the fumble. Well it was not a good look for him. Only he will know why he didn't try and retrieve it. In the next few days the video of it will be replayed millions of times and each time will make it look worse. If I was him teammates I would want to know why he didn't go for it. He just may have lost his team with not just his inaction but the fact he backed away.

To be honest I HATE that the media demands interviews immediately after championship games like the SB etc.
Players put their heart and soul into their season to win it all and I don't think it's fair to expect them to smile through it all when they've lost the biggest game of their life.
He definitely shouldn't have walked out but not everyone can put their emotions in a box, hopefully he grows from this experience.

These guys are earning millions a year. They're happy to lap it up and gloat when they're winning, be humble in defeat.

It's part and parcel with the job. They had no issue talking trash in the lead up to this game and got silenced once the kick off happened.

It's not an issue that losers get interviewed after a loss, the NFL has big personalities, their players play it up for the camera... Issue is, when you do that, you look more foolish in losing. You wouldn't see some of the greatest QB's to play the game conduct themselves that way in a loss.

They'll be better for the loss... They bought into the hype, next time they won't make the same mistake.

I read the Patriots forum and their game thread. Butthurt by the truck load. Conspiracies everywhere and their sense of entitlement is unbelievable. It's quite embarrassing to see them carry on like lunatics seeing Manning win another superbowl. Very pleasing for me though. I don't think it has fully sunk in yet.

Man, would I love to be in Denver right now.

Oh you should have seen them after the Conference Championship.

Perhaps the most arrogant & deluded set of fans on the planet. It amazes me after all they've gotten away with, they've managed convinced themselves the NFL has it in for *them*

Met my first ever fellow Falcins fan yesterday. Wearing a Brett Favre jersey no less, tickled my heart right down to its core

Why on earth would a falcons fan have a Favre jersey? He didn't throw a single completion in his entire career there (and only had 5 or 6 snaps from memory).

Ok, I don't watch much NFL, but find it fascinating on a tactical and cultural level and whilst this game was a bit dour the event is nothing short of spectacular.

That said, can someone explain what is with the Vince Lombardy trophy? It has to be the most unimaginative and bland looking piece of silverware in any sport. Just a footy on a block basically.

Yeah but have you looked at the rings they get?

congratulations Dragon and all Broncos fans. I've been eating crow all week. clearly the better team.

so that was rough. ever been on an incredible high and then had the carpet ripped out from under you and hit the lows hard. haven't been on any football sites, reddit or watched any news since the game. it just sucks.

at least I have the Tigers to look forward to this year ...........

It sucks man, I've been through it. SB 48 fallout was tough.

As I said earlier in this thread, they'll be better for it. Nothing is ever guaranteed in a Superbowl.

They're a good side, just not as great as we were hearing about for the last month. They need to get some better receiving targets and their run game will be much tougher to defend. Force Cam to pass and they aren't that potent.

I'm sure they'll be back there in the next few years. Nevertheless it was still a stellar season with plenty more ups than downs ;-)

thanks and again sorry about the arrogance I showed earlier, clearly head that chip on my shoulder too hard.

probably a little over the top but I wont be looking at any NFL stuff until around the draft. just don't want to read about the shit I'm sure Cam is getting right now, I'm sure we will get to read it all preseason.

Benjamin will be back and if you draft a good number two WR, you guys will be hard to stop next year. I'll trade you DT for Keuchly?

Broncos and Panthers play again next season so the Broncos will start against either NE or CAR in Denver. Great way to start the season!

I'd kick DT to the curb if it meant we could hold onto Von, Jackson, Trevathan and Brock. Huge off-season coming up for us with FA. Hopefully that win gives them some motivation in negotiations for those guys to stick around.

Trading DT means a lot of dead money against the cap unfortunately. I don't think we can keep them all. It all centres around Brock. If he goes we keep MJ and Trev but if he stays, they're gone IMO. Hillman too!

Von is a certainty to be here one way or the other. The man is going to get paid!

5-6 weeks ago I would have had Miller getting more than Justin Houston/Watt but less than Suh, like 6 yrs/110/50 but after that playoff run it's 6/$115m/$60m guaranteed.

Just a tiny bit more than Suh, but enough to say he's the highest paid defensive player in the league.
