Super League continues to show the way

Spoils the game? You havin' a laugh? NRL is undoubtedly of a higher standard than Super League but after watching NRL games on sky this year, Super League is more entertaining. Your crowds are quiet, the game is slow, teams don't seem to care if they lose and there is a general lack of passion. There's more passion in one Saints Wigan derby than an entire NRL season. Dull.

There are big hitters and better plays in one game of NRL than the whole Superleague season you dud.

When I watch NRL matches I simply watch and enjoy RL.

When I watch SL matches I am constantly holding my breath, fearing a penalty at the ruck area because a player has stayed down a millisecond too long. Ruck penalties in SL are a joke and spoil the game in England.

yep i agree, fast play the balls does nothing to enhance a game of RL , as long as its reasonable . I think NRL has a good balance.

The proof is in the pudding regarding it producing a superior national side. pick any ref GB wants,, let them have faster play the balls and 9 times out of 10 they would get murdered by NZ or Roo's backline.

If they can handle such a fast game and are superior at it why do they so often look like rabbits in the headlights in defence when Australia or NZ does anything remotely creative out wide at speed.

You are looking at that too simply. Super League is played the right way I believe. It is fabulously entertaining to watch.

By contrast whilst a tip-top game of NRL can be fun, the average game is dull, like watching a film in black and white with the sound turned down.

Sky Sports has dropped coverage of the NRL in the UK. It's not on at all over here unless one of the minor channels like Setanta sports picks it up for a fiver. It's not wanted either, the viewing figures are awful, simply because the content is on the whole extremely boring.

The mis-match in international terms has nothing to do with the style of league played domestically. It is to do with the calibre of players playing the game in the respective countries. In the UK if you show any sign of sporting prowess you are far more likely to play another sport such as football. You can go to public schools even in the heartlands of the sport and not be given the chance to play league. Elsewhere in the country you simply can't play the sport. As my information technology tutor always said, "You put shi$ in, you get shi$ out" no matter how good the training is.

You see this in the stature of the juniors who come through at Super League level. Most look like Golum, anorexic and short. Compare that to SBW and Greg Inglis.

You put players of that calibre into Super League and it would be sporting pornography.

No intensity, no emphasis put on defense and amateur attack, yeah Super League is played in the right spirit alright. Have you seen the British decoys? Only about a decade behind the times, they have no idea how to attack and that was shown right the way through the series as they're not challenged to attack intelligently at domestic level.

Who cares? whats your point? that the english don;t like NRL.?
The NRL could
be played like it was on fast forward and i bet the english would still not watch it. who cares. thats just one opinion We here love the NRL thats all that matters..

i don;t think an englishment would know a good game of RL if it bit them on the co*& but thats just my opinion.

so now your saying the calibre of players in NZ and Australia in the NRL are better than the ESL but they don;t get a fair deal in the refs department ? as the orginal thread posted by you,

So really, all the games in the Tri Nations played with sub-standard NRL officials should be removed from the record books.

you offensively implied that the
GB Lions were losing games due to "sub standard NRL officials and that "Tri Nations played with "sub-standard NRL officials should be removed from the record books'
so NRL players are of a higher standard but they are winning by 30 odd only because of the refs international interpretation?? you sound like Brian Noble , he crapped on after the Brisbane test how they haven;t had a fair go by the refs, video refs, interpretation, etc.

in any event.
i think your wrong mate. It has everything to do with what happens domestically . as Salivor said domestically they are not challenged and it carries over into their international game.

anyway,, opinions are like ar$eholes.

Totally agree mate. We have donkeys like Millward,McRae,Anderson,Sharp etc etc coming here and never telling the Brit decoys where to run or at what angle. You'd never get any of them having a job with an NRL team.Would you?
