Dude. Ine all seriousness.... From a non Dragons fans perspective... 2010 was one of the most boring years of Football I can remember.

I know you get all glassy eye'd when you talk about it and I can't blame you, but from an entertainment perspective, that year was poo.

TBH, ever since the wrestle has come into vogue, footy has been less entertaining.

The good Dogs and Eels sides of the 80's and some of the Bronco's sides of the 90's were electrifying but nowadays, it's all just play by the numbers. Be the best at the wrestle, win the ruck and march up field one out and then kick to the corners.

Which is precisely the style your mob is dominating the comp with at the moment.

The Tigers 2005 attacking prowess came off the back of submitting in every tackle to win a quick play the ball. The current wrestle-a-thon was the reaction to their touch football approach.

Correct, and...

... correct.

To claim 2010 and Saints by extension were boring is to not understand good, strong, basic football.

There's still teams that like to throw the ball around and play pretty football. Canberra and the Warriors being the prime examples. Problem is that in the modern game this approach isn't reliable enough when push comes to shove. Ironically, the Warriors reached the GF in 2011 by playing extremely tight and safe and not giving Melbourne a whiff of a chance.

What rubbish. 26 points a game compared to 21. And like I said earlier we're still trying to do even more in attack by adding another playmaker soon.

The 2010 dragons looked 3 times before crossing the road. They didn't know the meaning of the word risk.

We are the best attacking team in the comp. The Dragons were not. They were the best defensive team in the comp. We are not.

I don't disagree.

The Rabbitohs of 2013 are a little different to the Dragons of 2010 though. We aren't as tight in defence but we have more points in us. But it's just because of the difference in personnel.

If Maguire had a few less attacking weapons, I'm sure he'd put more emphasis on our defence.

BS.

It wasn't the number of points you guys scored, it was how you scored them.

Saints of 2010 were all about safety all over the park. The only time you even looked like going length of the field was off a dropped ball or an intercept.

I disagree. You need to go back and watch the footage more closely. In fact, the try we scored against your mob in Rd 24 I think where Costigan ran it on the 5th from dummy half, got it to Nightingale who got it to Gasnier is a case in point - we played strong, error free footy and preferred the pill in our hands to the other teams.

Watch Jamie Soward run the ball and tell me he was playing safety first footy.

People claim it was boring; its rubbish. They're victims of the touch football mentality the Nein promote rather than the game of league.

Most entertaining side of 2010 were the storm. Couldn't win so tried all sorts of crazy shit. Think we came up with the deliberate scrum dummy penalty that year. Cracked up when I first seen that.

the main irks that stop me from fully enjoying footy in recent years, live or otherwise
  • are the players not playing the mark,
  • the grubbiness in the ruck
  • them not challenging for the high ball
  • and the numorous blatant reffing guffs every single f**king game
  • oh and the pathetic commentating of the nine team
i know the rub of the green means the refs f**k up in equal measure and rarely has an absolute influence over the game, but to see it happening so often rustles my jimmies

2009 was a freakish achievement on the backs of Hayne, Moi Moi and Mateo. I miss the 2005 Eels...for mine that was the best footy we've played in the NRL....
