I have the predicament next year of needing to buy a gaming capable laptop, since it's unlikely I can take my entire desktop with me to Thailand

At least you didn't spend nearly $2000 on a high-powered gaming desktop to play mmorpgs then stop playing mmorpgs a month later :lol: It's not all bad though, I plan on playing regular PC games and I can't stand slow computers anyway.

I am going to buy a laptop in a few months also though for general use.

Mate, there is life before and after Breaking Bad. You won't be disappointed. The first few episodes lay the foundation so be patient and strap the f**k in!

I very rarely mmorpg hop, I was always afraid a second mmorpg would replace sleep :lol: I never tried SWTOR, Warhammer, AION etc etc as they came out. Only Runescape, Lotro & Gw2.

Anything with a subscription is also completely out for me these days.

Well. Moved in yesterday, go to turn my tv on, no f**king sound. Picture is fine. Try another point, same thing. Bought a new cable, same thing. Grabbed a spare tv off a mate, it works. Ring up the removal mob, because there's no physical damage to the outside of the tv or to the box, they won't cover it. 7 year old HD plasma, not worth f**k all now but still feel somewhat gipped a little. Looks like i will be going tv shopping in the coming days. Anyone got any suggestions on type/brand/place (brissy)?

I expect to be an outlier, but I'd try to ignore the hype. It wasn't as good as I had expected it to be, which is pretty much what I say about every TV show hyped into oblivion besides The Wire.

Wait, first see if you can get sound through the av out. A cheapy sound system will run you around 150 bucks, instead of 800 for a new TV.

Ah, righto. Yeah, new TV time.

Plasma is deep blacks, less lighting, better refresh rate. Good in a dark room. Bigger size for less money.

LCD is bright picture, sharp image, relatively weak contrast. Normally the sharpest with moving objects. Good for bright rooms, and watching sports.

LED is thin, good colors, good contrast, good all round viewing. Good if you watch a broad mix of things.

Projectors are boss as f**k, but take a long ass time to set up optimally.

Grab a HD tuner at the nearest JB. Run your tv via that and plug a stereo into it as well. That way you just basically bypass the tuner in your tv.
