My Sony TV has outlasted my Kogan by approximately 600%, and my Sony laptop is the longest lived I've ever had. Same with my last Xperia. Just because you like cheap and nasty doesn't mean it's better.

I'm a Sony whore now. Phone, laptop, tv and dvd player :)

Bought a cheap 37"TV/DVD combo from JB a couple of years ago for about $300 or $350 (can't remember exactly) because we only had an old TV in the bedroom and the set top box was playing up. Worked pretty well for the first year, the sensor in the TV was shit and doesn't pick up when we are using the remote, but that was OK. About a month after the warranty expired the screen would on occaision simply not work, you would get sound but the screen was black. Sometimes you have to turn the thing off and on about 10 times before you will actually get a picture. We don't use the TV that much so I don't really care, but if we needed to use it regularly I would be pissed off and have to buy a new TV. Comparing on price only is completely stupid.

If we're talking about a bedroom tv, then that's why I suggest Kogan. Bedroom tvs are primarily secondary (excuse the pun).

For a main tv in the lounge room, then yes, Samsung or Sony, but because Dani said it's in her bedroom... that's the only reason I suggested that.

Hey, I bought a Soniq TV from JB for $199 - 32 inch tv, flat panel and everything 2 years ago. Still works perfect in my room.

It's not just because it's cheap, it's the product functions itself. If you're one of those people who only like Sony products etc, then that's fine, but if you're shopping around, it's good to keep an open mind about these things.

Anyway Dani has stated that she only wants Sony products so that's fine, so we'll say she got what she wanted and we'll leave it at that.

No Dani you got rorted :(

Plenty of 32 inch tvs way cheaper than that with USB ports for hard drives with inclusive built-in DVD players. You paid that much because it's Samsung.

Kogan uses Samsung products inside their tvs, everything inside your tv and this one are the same.

5 minutes of Google and you're again completely wrong.

I worked in TV's for about 3 years. The panel may be from the same factory, but they are not the same quality and the back electronics, which produce the picture for you, are most certainly inferior in range.

Samsung, Sony and Panasonic are still the kings of the industry. Your suggestion a Kogan is 'essentially the same' is completely wrong.

Kogan are cheap Chinese imports with an opportunistic Australian importer running the company. Nothing more, nothing less.

Cheap and quality. I got a 55" LCD for $650, goes good.

But if you are after a real quality tv for cheap, go aldi, mum got a 60 inch for $700 and the panel is gorgeous.

My bedroom is where i spend about 90% of my time when I'm at home. It's basically my living room. But a small space. I wanted something not too big but of good quality. The Samsung equivalent was $300 more. I didn't go out only to buy a Sony. It just worked out that way.

I work in retail, I know how to shop.

I am not geniused.

Yes the f**k you are. You should have gotten a 10,000 lumen projector and blacked out all the windows and nothing less than 7.2 surround sound and a hundred inch reflective screen will satisfy us. Take it back.

whilst we're discussing TV's, for the last couple of months i've had a burning desire to play a prank..

you know how you see all the old fat back TVs sitting out on people's nature strip, waiting for someone to take them..

well, i want to start collecting every single one i see.. till i have about 20 or 30 sitting in my garage..

and then one night drive around to find another person who has one out on their nature strip..

but rather than take theirs, leave the other 30 or so TVs on their lawn, so when they come out in the morning instead of their TV being gone, it has suddenly multiplied..

Aldi are, surprisingly, very good at landing quality at all their offers.

I'm not against Kogan. If you want cheap options, then they're good. The claim they're the same as Samsung is offensive, though. It oozes ignorance.

We know :) I bet you got a good deal and a good set up. Insta a pic for us of it?

I reckon you should just add them each night. Make it look like they're multiplying.

Eh, they do use the panels. The thing that separates them is the processing on board. Give me a Kogan and a pc and i'll get the quality up around the mid range samsungs, easy. Plug in a dvd player and don't configure the colours and contrast and of course it will look shit.

Another thing everyone confuses is they hear "same as Samsung" they think of the Samsung flagship models. No, it's the base models, and a kogan is easily as good as a base model Samsung.
