It's really not unfair to single him out.

The overall attitude is poor, but as:

a). One of our highest paid players
b). A 'star player'

He should be putting in.

On top of that, his attitude has been by far the worst. He's flinching away from doing his job (watch the first Mannering try from last week and tell me why our fullback is shying away from picking up that grubber) and he only sporadically bothers to chime into the offensive duties.

Time for a change of pace...

This is Eddie Murphy eating a skirt steak and fries off the back of a naked model somewhere in Europe in the 80's. That is all, carry on.

This is a common misconception. The merkin has been paid $400,000 of his $600,000 contract. It's not like he's struggling to make ends meet.

Even still, if I got my pay cheque and it was down 30% I'd be pissed. Regardless if I'm earning $50k or $500k.

Number one rule of work place harmony = don't mess with peoples pay.

And if his piss poor performance were a 2014 development, it would explain a lot.

Unfortunately, he's been f**king shit 80% of the time since we signed him.

Unless you know his complete financial situation, you could be completely wrong. He could have a massive mortgage to service, negatively gearing investment properties etc.

Scary reliance on Buderus last year couple with a few players ending up not contributing this year for various reasons (injuries and sacking) and, I think, Mullen missing a few weeks at the start of the season also hurt. Don't wanna get off to a bad start in this comp.

Some of Bennett (or whoever does recruitment) recruitment decisions aren't great either. I liked some of the older player signings (Smith when he's fit is great, ditto Scott, Mason has been good value) because he needed to get a decent attitude change in the club, they've been pathetic in that regard for years. But it's kind of backfired on him now, stuck with some older players and not much in the way of youth in the forwards of any real substance.

I would've liked to have seen what happened when they had Smith as coach tbh, thought he did a good job cleaning them out and them going in the right direction before general instability when they didn't offer him a longer term deal set in.

I think Cronulla's recruitment of the last few years is more concerning. At least the Knights have a decent enough backline if they can sort hooker/pack out. Sharks are a dad's army of guys bought to win last year, and already various players have struggled this year with injuries and age. Plus there's the ASADA concerns. God help em if Ennis's performances go downhill as well, they'll be shot then.

I could give two f**ks if he's peddling his sorry ass on the streets to pay for a heroin habit.

If the f**ker is going to hold a place in the Knights lineup, he'd better f**king have some pride in the jersey. He can f**k off and die, otherwise, for all I care.

I agree the Mannering try was terrible defense on his part, but I think my point stands. He was putting in all of 2012, yet had a bunch of nuffies dragging him down. Things were supposed to change 2013, and he put in first half of the season, and towards the end of 2013 when you blokes were a chance was performing well.

2014, there's pay issues plus a load of dickheads in your squad squandering the opportunity of being a top tier team by essentially acting up.

He's not exactly got a lot to play for right now. Origin is his only bright point.

Sure, I get he should be putting in 100%, but check out Widdop at Saints; first 6 games he was the form 5/8. Now? A complete shadow based on the turmoil the club is in. Same situation, different player really.

How well would you perform at work if you weren't getting paid?

That's 99% of Newcastle's problem right now.

Agree.

From my understanding, his Knights contract was paid in full on time but the third party top ups (which are not guaranteed) were outstanding
