I love the whole 'you have to work with others in the real world' line.

Yeah, some in the workforce don't do their job.
They seldom last though. Surprise surprise, people in paid employment generally pull their finger out....

Yeah that's the frustrating part. These ones we all just get the same mark regardless. Thing is if other group members don't do anything their punishment is... not having to do anything and getting the same mark as the people who did all the work. In the real world... theoretically... if people don't do their job they lose it, or at least, they'll lose it more often than these guys at Uni will lose out on anything for doing shit f**k all.

I'm off my face on pain killers and I still can't sleep from the pain.

When does it get easier?

We had a ton of group assignments last year which would make sense since it was a Justice degree and team-work is just apart of the package.

Assumed that working with middle aged students would be easy since they'd be responsible enough to put their education first then party.

I chose...poorly.

Was just a real nightmare the whole way through. The coup de gras was rocking up the day of the presentation only to find out that he hadn't written a script and wasn't going have time to write one either, forcing me to write 300 words of bullshit for him to say.

STILL managed to jag a pass although all I did was yawn half my speech.

f**king group assignments. I really don't think I'm going to finish this degree.

I had a group assignment a few weeks back. There was five of us in the group, only me and one girl put in effort. I eMailed the unit co-ordinator and said "X, Y and Z are doing no work at all".

They all received a 0 for the assignment, this assignment accounted for 30% of the unit as well.

I'm not letting people bum free marks off me when they put in no effort.

best group assignment I did was for an assignment with the exact same topic as a the the last few previous years that already had a copy of (a few lecturers would leave assignments in a box outside their office to be picked up after being marked) which I as a first year student would go through and find a few with the best marks for 3rd year subjects, go photocopy them and put them back and keep filed away for the future and hope the assessment doesn't change).

Got put with a few randoms I didn't know and simply exchanged the assignment for them to change up a bit and put our names on in exchange for a carton of coronas. Happy days

Have you ever noticed people doing little work in group assignments still pass? There's a lesson there...

lol, assignments.

You finished highschool - then chose to go back to school, & PAY them for it?

And guys think you are smart. Here's a tip: you're stupid.

School's for fools.

very lucky not to get caught out there..

we had a similar thing with one of my units recently, where the lecturer would essentially keep the same topic, but would change around a few minor things so as to avoid people doing what you have mentioned..

anyway, part of the assignment was to present it back to the entire class..

one group were part way through their presentation, the lecturer stopped them in their tracks, pointed out one of the items from last year that had changed for this year, and to step outside to talk with him.

he returned back into the room..

they didn't.. ever.

.

Rookie mistake, you still go through it line by line to make sure it makes sense and isn't any alien references and re format it to make it look better. Considering it was due in 6 weeks they other guys didn't mind spending the first week re-typing the entire thing and seeing if they can possibly make it better to get a few more marks and check it was all still relevant then send it back to me to have a read and give it the ok.
