He irks me regularly, but he's a friend of my father's (and the father of my youngest brother's best friend), so I can't tell him off often.

In fact, I diffused the argument by suggesting we discuss the various merits of different sports over a beer when I'm next back and he's all good now.

I can speak from having played it for several years, run the supporters group for an NRL team (Newcastle) over the course of a year (and remaining a member in it for a further three beyond that), and having attended games since 2004.

I'm sorry if I feel being directly involved in the sport qualifies me to have an opinion on it despite not having taken photos of people playing it.
