After having lived in Melbourne for 6 years I can conclusively say that this article is a lie.

Traffic? Terrible.

Drivers? Shocking.

Real estate? Pricey like Sydney unless you want to live in Epping or Mooroolbark.

Some people just refuse I see anything other than what they want to see, and this is melbournes greatest strength. The cult of Melbourne.

House prices are cheaper than Sydney. Rent is cheaper (trust me I know, I've spent weeks looking at rental ads). And more people can get to the CBD within 45 minutes than in Sydney.

Sydney has the Harbour, the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, and Bondi Beach. Melbourne has a shitty river.

Ugh. You can be on a 3 lane freeway with one other car in front and they can't help themselves. They'll merge in front of you, every time.

And don't get us started about hook turns...

They do work when you see them in operation, as long as no more than 2 or 3 cars are turning right from the left hand lane.
