I feel like this should be standard practice. If I can match my socks...

Nanjing doesn't get quite as cold, but Mao (in his infinite wisdom) decided insulation wasn't needed south of a certain point - so even though it's -6 outside - you can't get any room warm because it all just soaks out through the concrete walls.

f**k! What a blunder that was!

We were lucky in Finland - it's common practice there to double-glaze the windows and provide central heating in houses as standard. It is -20 or so degrees Celsius outside, but you for feel it inside.

But the moment you step outside...I recall my mum going to get the mail one winter. She was outside for literally 15 seconds, with a parka, beanie, ear muffs, scarf and snow boots. She came back inside the house, took off her scarf and beanie, and her hair was frozen solid together. After a mete 15 seconds' exposure to te elements. Crazy shit.

Work today is just being a dick. Cannot wait to get out of the northern suburbs.

Work has been a dick for me ever since I knew when I was leaving. I dream I'm back in high school almost every night, with the general point being that I convince my mother to let me stay home.

I then wake up and realise that isn't an option :(

That sucks, bros.

But I'm sure things will change - sometimes I like to describe life as a game of chicken, and life is trying to punk you out, and you have to hold on there until life gives up first.

Mao is revered as a figure of Godlike intelligence and brilliance here, but that's mostly because not doing so results in a sudden disappearance. The guy made more stupid decisions than good by a far stretch.

That sucks, bros.

I'll survive. Work itself hasn't changed or done anything to make me dislike it more - it's just the knowing that I am leaving soon that makes each class a little harder to front up for

Sydney and affordable in the same sentence? Please.

You kidding? The Inner West is no more expensive than what I was paying for rent in Newcastle or Armidale.

You're a westie, move closer to civilisation and then talk to me about affordability.
Quite ironic that Ashfield was considered a western suburb 100 odd years ago, yet today it's considered inner-city. Therefore, as much as I'd like to be, I'm not a westie ;-) (BTW no, I don't live in Ashfield, just using it in Rugby League terms, but you get my drift!)

Hahahaha! Yeah right! The inner west is f**kED. The whole of Sydney is. I could pay a lot less, yeah, but I would be living in a rat infested shack.
