Smart move from all concerned with the Watmough deal, gives Parra fans a year to talk him up and pretend they never hated the merkin.

Well he has been overtaken by Clydesdale and Randall at the Knights

With the Donkeys losing Granville they really have no other FG hookers to draw from so I guess it was his best shot at getting some NRL game time. I cant think of many other clubs that are short a bog average hooker

Ah yes, Granville. The latest in our attempt to completely shaft any local talent. At least he might be better than Kostjasyn.

He still had a year on his contract and chucked the sooks that the club wanted to wait until the end of the season to review the coaching position. Instead he asked for a release and signed with the Roosters in July.

Letting him go was one of the single best decisions the club made. We needed the clean out but in typical Smith fashion he took it too far and fractured the playing group and fans

TBF, since you guys stupidly let Segs go there has been slim pickings hooker wise coming out of NQ. Its probably the only real position you needed to go to market for

We didn't really have a choice with Segs unfortunately, he's always wanted to move to Sydney. Tried with the Rabbitohs and didn't have the maturity, as soon as he had a solid base he was out. Still love the bloke though.

I'd have Thompson and Mitchell over Kostjasyn every day of the week, he's a handbrake. I like Granville, but really don't think we needed him.

Is Watmough really signed for three years from 2016? seems very optimistic. Blokes 31 and has played 285 first grade games and another 30 odd rep games

Yeah I like Mitchell and cant understand why he hasnt got more of a run in FG for the Cows

Granville is a good utility and can fill in at lock if needed. I think he is a better player than Thompson

Watching Travis Waddell try to run through a defensive line is like watching wet concrete running through a sieve.

Takes forever to get there and when it eventually does, you know it has no chance of going through.
replace 'wet cement' with 'brick' and you've described Chris Lawrence.

Anyone got more details re this:

There has been a well publicised falling out between Watmough and Manly teammate Daly Cherry-Evans, ironically another signing target for the Eels. The chances of the Maroons playmaker also making the shift to Parramatta are now remote.

Watmough allegedly blames DCE and his thirst for constant upgrades for Glenn Stewart being forced out. At the time he said something along the lines of it being a bit rude that some players were asking for upgrades before the end of their contracts and that it must be harder to manage the cap when that happens.

DCE is not Parra's target

If I was in charge of Manly and it was retaining DCE and Foran vs Matai Watmough and the Stewarts I know who I'd be prioritising.

It's a f**king professional sport where players have a limited career, they have to try and make as much as they can in that time, and in the salary cap era you can't keep everyone together.

I reckon Manly should make a late bid to poach Travis Waddell from the Broncos. They should pay massive overs to get Tony Williams back and they should also take Lawrence off the Tigers hands.

But then I may be the wrong person to give them recruitment advice considering my feelings towards them...

Granville is a quality buy for the Cowboys and I wouldn't be surprised to see him tear it up next season.

Griffin made his mind up a long time ago that Andrew McCullough was the golden boy and has stuck with him through all the good times, the bad and the mediocre - but most mediocre.

Meanwhile, Granny has come on and has usually bought the Broncos a try or a shift in momentum. I don't know how he'd go starting 24 games a year but he's somebody who should have been given more games and it's no surprise to see him link up with Green. Together they won consecutive premierships in the ISC.

He's a better player than all the hookers you've got, Didgi. You'll grow to love him.

As for Waddell - he was probably headed up here regardless to play ISC. He'll be OK for depth purposes and to put pressure on the likes of Cullen & Berrell. Hopefully the latter lift.
