Man I know there's a lot of rugby hate on here, but this new National Rugby comp thing is actually pretty awesome. New rules mean no merkin seems to want a penalty shot, they all want a try. And mostly young players looking to impress means they play at a million miles an hour. Better than watching internationals.

I had a look at the teams, and my local team (Southern Districts) is affiliated with the "rest of Sydney" franchise. Since I don't care about anything west of Lugarno it makes it hard to feel invested in that side.

I don't mind watching the Shute Shield every now and then. But really struggle with internationals and Super 15.

Ideally they would have done some form of national comp involving existing teams.

No idea how they would do it though, maybe promotion and relegation.
