I thought Trainspotting started out quite jovial.

Then steadily less and less jovial.

It's pretty well paced in that respect. If it was too full on too fast most people couldn't relate to the characters. By the time it gets dark you are on board with most of them.

Yeah. I was expecting something similar to Requiem for a Dream, which IMO wasn't to full on to start with (before really getting pretty full on later on), but was always kind of dark.

Jesus Requiem was a good, but depressing movie. Felt like running a warm bath afer that one
