Morning.

Question - did it take the fathers reading this long to adjust to being 'baby safe'? ie not leaving scissors or such in reach of little hands?

I started thinking about not leaving things that could obviously be dangerous lying around before she was born, by the time she was mobile we had a fairly good habit going.

i have a healthy dose of 'worst case scenario' for most things, so was baby safe early on..

just basically worked on the hypothesis of "if i was home alone with the bub and i smacked my head into something and passed out, bub would be safe until i either came to, or someone came home.."

so essentially always made sure that bathroom & laundry doors were locked, nothing of evil on the floors in any of the rooms..

even made sure that when they could sit but not move that the hardwood floor had pillows & cushioning around a circumference exactly head-fall level (i may have laid the baby out once to get an accurate measure)

but yes, amazing how their reach grows so quickly.. what was a 'safe' place one week can be easily accessible the next week...

and the fridge is a classic - have photos etc on there, but the level of the lowest photos (or bill or whatever is on the fridge) is the exact same level that is just above the reach of the bub..

kinda the same way that tree ends up having no branches or leaves at the exact height that a cow can eat up to..

What did you leave out Drew?

As senses said, I started getting used to it before baby was born.

Every now and then though I may slip up but quickly realise and fix it. (Usually a knife too close to the edge of the bench)

No

My missus is paranoid about baby safety

Apparently they chill the f**k out when the second one comes along

Target and Kmart have apparentlyy pulled GTA V after some online petitions attacked the game because of the damaging effect the violence can have on children and in particular the apparent mysogeny of the game.

I don't really care either way, i don't particularly like gaming, although if kids are playing an R18 game that's on the parents responsibility frankly.

The response got a laugh out of me though

A giraffe on the other hand...

Also Muz... Negative. I thought a man as smart and intelligent as you would've know that in the picture posted, the primary source of food for those animals you posted is on the floor beneath them!

That's a good idea to work with.

I leave a lot out. This morning it was scissors, Tuesday it was a knife on the edge, I commonly leave my ring on the edge of a table...

I'm just shit at it.

I get the paranoia. I don't want Theodora hurt. I just... struggle to remember properly.

don't stress - last weekend we were enoying some family time in the yard, just soaking up the nice weather & enjoying a cider with the missus whilst the kids ran around..

i put the cider down for a second to shift something, look up and one of the little ones has grabbed it and looked like she was about to take a swig..

had to dive over and grab it out of her hands, explaining that daddy's apple juice tastes really yukky and she wouldn't like it..

didn't like that experience..

at that moment, i suddenly felt transported to another life.. where the ciders were VB, that i should have a packet of cigarettes up my arm, living in public housing and be screaming at Mershell not to f**king touch daddy's beer and to go see if mum had collected the centrelink money..

and pretty sure i grew an instant mullet too..
